Motorbike batteries
The Yuasa YTX7L-WC (usually sold as YTX7L-BS when dry pre-charged, or YTX7L when factory-filled) is one of the most common batteries for modern 125cc motorcycles and scooters. The "L" in the name here does not stand for polarity, but is part of the size designation for this special "short and high" battery type. With a capacity of 6 Ah (10h) or 6.3 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of 100 A (EN), it is the standard for almost all Honda 125 models as well as many Kawasaki and Aprilia vehicles.Highlights at a glanceThe standard for 125cc sport bikes: The original equipment battery for bestsellers such as Honda CBR 125 R, Honda SH 125, Kawasaki Ninja 250 R or Aprilia RS4 125.Wet Charged (WC): The abbreviation "WC" stands for batteries which are often already delivered factory-filled, charged and hermetically sealed. They are ready to install ("Plug & Play").Compact upright format: Measuring 114 x 71 x 131 mm, it is very slim, but quite high relative to its capacity. This is ideal for the slim tails of sporty motorcycles.AGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass fleece (Absorbent Glass Mat), making the battery leak-proof, vibration-resistant and cycle-resistant.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve-regulated) the system is hermetically sealed; topping up with water is not possible and not required throughout its service life.Reliable starting: Delivers 100 A cold start current, which is optimally dimensioned for high-revving 125cc and 250cc single- or twin-cylinder engines. The favourite for Honda & KawasakiThe YTX7L-WC is inseparably connected with the brand Honda. Almost every Honda scooter (Pantheon, SH, Dylan, PS) and every light motorcycle (CBR 125, VT 125 Shadow, Varadero 125) uses this type. Also with Kawasaki (KLX 250, Z 250 SL) and many Aprilia models (Mojito, SR 125) it is used. Both have approx. 6 Ah, but completely different dimensions.YTX7L (your battery): 114 mm long, 71 mm wide (Slim & High).YTX7A: 150 mm long, 87 mm wide (Wide & Flat). They do not fit each other mechanically. A Honda CBR needs the slim 7L, a Kymco scooter usually the wide 7A.What does "WC" actually mean?"WC" stands for "Wet Charged". This means that the battery has already been filled with acid and sealed at the factory. In contrast to the "BS" variant (Bottle Supplied), where you have to fill the acid yourself, you do not have this task here. Technically, both variants are identical after activation. Can I use a YTZ7S or YTZ8V instead?Yes, these are the "High Performance" upgrades. The YTZ7S or YTZ8V have exactly the same size (114x71 mm), are but flatter (106 mm) or the same height and offer significantly more starting current and capacity. In modern start-stop scooters (Honda SH from 2013) these are often mandatory. In older vehicles they are a powerful but more expensive upgrade for the YTX7L.Do I have to recharge the battery?Even with a "Wet Charged" battery, you should measure the voltage before installation. It may have discharged during storage. If the voltage is below 12.6 V, please top it up with a motorcycle charger to avoid starting problems and premature wear.
The Yuasa GYZ32HL is the absolute flagship of the Yuasa Powersports range. It comes from the GYZ series ("Next Generation"), which has been specially developed for the heaviest V-twin motorbikes and vehicles with extreme energy requirements. With a mighty 32 Ah capacity and a massive cold cranking current of 500 A (EN), it is the most powerful battery in this segment. It serves as a direct premium upgrade for the well-known YIX30L-BS and offers modern features such as integrated threaded terminals for easy installation.Highlights at a glanceThe performance maximum: With 500 A cold cranking current, it delivers the highest starting power in the Yuasa range to effortlessly start even the largest Harley engines or high-compression V2 units.Upgrade for YIX30L: It has the same external dimensions as the standard YIX30L-BS, but offers 2 Ah more capacity and significantly more starting reserve.Factory Activated (Ready to Install): The GYZ series is always supplied factory-filled, activated and permanently sealed. No acid contact, no waiting time – just install.Integrated threaded terminals (Flush Terminals): Instead of fiddly loose square nuts, the GYZ32HL has fixed brass threaded inserts in the housing. Connecting the cables (also from above) is much simpler and more corrosion-resistant.AGM Heavy Duty: The reinforced plate structure and thick glass-fibre separators make it extremely resistant to the severe vibrations of heavy V-twins.Enormous reserves: 32 Ah capacity ensures that seat heaters, sat navs, powerful audio systems and auxiliary headlights are supplied safely even when stationary or at low speed. The powerhouse for Harley Touring & GoldwingThe GYZ32HL is the ultimate solution for "Heavy Iron". It is perfect for all Harley-Davidson Touring models (Electra Glide, Street Glide, Road King, Ultra Classic – replacement for OEM 66010-97), the Honda Goldwing GL 1800 or large Polaris UTVs (Ranger / RZR). If you have equipped your motorbike with a lot of accessories and want maximum reliability, this is the model for you. It lasts longer, starts more strongly and is easier to fit. It fits wherever a YIX30L-BS or YTX30L-BS was fitted. Will this battery fit my Harley?Yes, if you ride a "Big Twin" touring machine (FLH/FLT models). The GYZ32HL replaces the original Harley battery with the part number 66010-97A / B / C. But be careful with the dimensions: For Softail or Dyna models this battery is too large (these usually require the YTX20HL).What's special about the terminals?Normal batteries have hollow terminals into which you have to fumble a loose nut. The GYZ series has "Flush Terminals": The thread is firmly integrated in the terminal. You can screw it in directly without a nut falling away. In addition, these terminals offer a larger contact area for better current flow. How do I charge this beast? As the battery is very large (32 Ah), you need a charger with enough power. A small trickle charger (0.8 A) would take forever to fully charge it. We recommend an automatic charger with at least 2.0 to 5.0 amps charging current (e.g. CTEK MXS 5.0 or Optimate 6) to charge it quickly and gently.
The Yuasa YT19BL-BS is a powerful AGM battery that has been specially developed as a modern upgrade for the classic "BMW battery" (DIN 51913 / 51814). With a full 19 Ah capacity and a cold start current of 170 A (EN), it is the powerhouse for heavy touring motorcycles, especially for older BMW Boxer and K models. It provides the necessary voltage stability, which is absolutely essential for the sensitive ABS systems of this generation.Highlights at a GlanceThe BMW Specialist: Precisely developed for the narrow but tall battery compartment of many BMW R models (R850, R1100, R1150) and K models (K1200, K1100).AGM Technology: The acid is bound in the fleece, which makes the battery more leak-proof and much more vibration-resistant compared to old acid batteries (51913) – important for the vibrations of the boxer engine.High Capacity (19Ah): Offers huge reserves for heated grips, additional headlights and especially for the ABS system, which draws a lot of current when starting.ABS Safety: A strong battery prevents the infamous "ABS flashing" when starting older BMWs, which is often triggered by undervoltage.Maintenance-Free: Thanks to VRLA technology, no more water needs to be refilled after the initial filling; no more tedious removal to check the water level.Special Connections: Features the correct flat terminals (with hole on the side/top) for the original BMW cable connections to fit without adapters. The Powerhouse for R1100, R1150 & K SeriesAnyone who rides a BMW R1100 RT/GS/R, an R1150 or an old K100/K1100 is familiar with this battery size (approx. 185x80x170 mm). Originally, wet batteries (with acid hose) or expensive gel batteries were often installed here. The Yuasa YT19BL-BS is the modern AGM alternative: It often delivers higher starting currents than gel batteries and is easier to maintain than wet batteries. It is essential for reliably setting the large two-cylinder pistons in motion. Requires maintenance.YT19BL-BS (Modern): Is an AGM battery. After filling, it is sealed. Does not require a hose, hardly emits gas, and has a higher starting power. My original battery was a GEL battery (Exide), can I use Yuasa AGM?Yes, absolutely. BMW often installed gel batteries from the factory. The Yuasa AGM (YT19BL-BS) is compatible and often cheaper. AGM batteries also usually have a slightly lower internal resistance, which leads to a stronger starter crank ("faster starting"), while gel batteries are better for very long storage without recharging. For regular use, AGM is often the more spirited choice.Does this battery fit the newer R1200 GS?No, caution!R1100 / R1150 (up to approx. 2004): Use this large YT19BL-BS (19Ah).R1200 GS (from 2004): Use the much smaller YTX14-BS (12Ah). The YT19BL is far too large for the newer 1200 models (LC and air-cooled). Please check the year! Why does my ABS flash when starting? On BMW R1100/1150 models, the ABS checks the on-board voltage when starting. If this drops below a certain value during starting (because the battery is old or weak), the ABS goes into "fault" (alternating blinking). The strong YT19BL-BS usually solves this problem, as it keeps the voltage stable and high during starting.
The Yuasa YT7B-BS (often also referred to as YT7B-4) is an extremely compact and flat AGM battery. It was specially developed for light enduros and super sports bikes where every gram of weight and every millimetre of space counts. With a capacity of approx. 6.5 Ah (10h) or 6.8 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of approx. 110 A (EN), it provides an astonishing amount of power for its small size. It is the standard for popular models such as the Suzuki DR-Z 400 or the Triumph Daytona 675.Highlights at a glanceExtremely flat design: At only 65 mm wide, it is one of the thinnest 12V starter batteries on the market, perfect for tight battery boxes under the seat or behind fairings.AGM technology: The acid is leak-proof in the glass fleece, which makes the battery vibration-proof – a crucial advantage for enduros ridden off-road.Lightweight: Weighs only approx. 2.7 kg when filled and thus helps to keep the overall weight of the motorbike low (important for sport riders).Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (Valve Regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after first filling; no water loss, no topping up.High starting power: Despite its small dimensions, it reliably delivers the necessary power to safely start single-cylinder (enduro) or three-cylinder (Triumph) bikes.Multi-position installation: Theoretically (after correct activation and sealing), it can also be installed at an inclination, which gave designers more freedom. The favourite for Suzuki DR-Z & TriumphThe YT7B-BS is the first choice for riders of the Suzuki DR-Z 400 (E/S/SM models), as the battery box of this motorbike is extremely narrow. A standard battery (like the YTX7A-BS) would not fit here. Also, with the Triumph Daytona 675 (early model years) or the Yamaha TT 600 R, this special, flat battery type is used to create space for the rear shock absorber or air filter box. Features ModelYuasa YT7B-BS (High Performance MF) ApplicationMotorbike & scooter (Suzuki DR-Z 400, Yamaha Majesty/T-Max, Ducati) TechnologyAGM (VRLA) - Dry pre-charged (incl. acid pack) Voltage12 V Capacity6.8 Ah (20 hours) / 6.5 Ah (10 hours) Cold start current (CCA)110 A (EN) Dimensions (L x W x H in mm)150 x 65 x 93 (Extremely flat) Pole arrangement1 (Positive pole Left) Connection terminalType 11 (Front/Top Mounting) Bottom barN (No base bar) Special featuresTilt-proof up to 45° (after filling), flat design, vibration-proof Weight (kg)approx. 2.7 (filled) FAQs about the Yuasa YT7B-BSWhat is the difference to the YTX7A-BS?Both batteries are equally long (150 mm) and equally high (93 mm). The key difference is the width.YTX7A-BS: 87 mm wide (standard for scooters/scooters).YT7B-BS: 65 mm wide (special flat for enduros/sport bikes). If you ride a Suzuki DR-Z 400, the thicker YTX7A-BS will not fit. You must absolutely use the flat YT7B-BS.Is YT7B-4 the same as YT7B-BS?Yes.YT7B-BS: Refers to the version with the acid pack supplied separately ("Bottle Supplied") – this is the standard in mail order.YT7B-4: Is often the designation for the factory-filled version or the code on the lid. Technically and in terms of dimensions they are absolutely identical. Can I use this battery in my Ducati Panigale? Some Ducati Panigale models (e.g. 1199/1299) mechanically use a battery of this size (150x65x93mm). However, the YT7B-BS is borderline weak for a 1200cc V2 engine. Here, an lithium-ion battery of the same size is often used as standard or as an accessory, which delivers significantly more starting current. Check the manual: if lead-acid is specified, the YT7B-BS is correct. How long does this small battery last?As the battery is very small and has little reserve capacity (6.8 Ah), it reacts sensitively to long periods of standstill (winter) or silent consumers (alarm system, clock). A good trickle charger ("maintainer") is almost compulsory for this type if the motorbike is left for more than 2-3 weeks to ensure it starts again in spring.
The Yuasa YTB9 is – just like the YTB4L – a special modern upgrade for classic motorbikes. It was developed to replace the traditional YB9-B (12N9-4B-1) lead-acid battery 1:1. With a capacity of 9 Ah (10h) or 9.5 Ah (20h) and compact dimensions, it brings the benefits of AGM technology to older vehicles originally designed for open acid batteries.Highlights at a glancePlug & Play upgrade for YB9-B: It has exactly the same dimensions (135x75x139 mm) as the classic. It fits perfectly in the battery box of Vespa PX 200 E Lusso, Honda CB 125 T or older Yamaha models.100% maintenance-free: Unlike the old YB9-B, water never needs to be topped up again. The battery is hermetically sealed thanks to VRLA technology. No acid hose: As the YTB9 is sealed, the vent hose required for the old battery is not needed. This protects the frame and exhaust from corrosion damage caused by acid droplets.AGM technology: The acid is bound in the fleece (Absorbent Glass Mat). This makes the battery leak-proof and much more vibration-resistant than the old wet battery.More power: Often offers better cold start values and maintains voltage longer, which is especially helpful for vehicles with a weak alternator or infrequent use.The upgrade for Vespa PX & classicsThe YTB9 is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to "modernise" their classic without changing the look or the battery box. It is particularly popular with riders of the Vespa PX (with electric starter, 12V), the Piaggio Hexagon, the Honda VT 250 or the Aprilia AF1, all of which came with the maintenance-intensive YB9-B as standard. With the YTB9, fiddling with acid packs and checking water levels is a thing of the past. The two batteries are mechanically not interchangeable. Pay attention to the order of the letters! Can I install this battery lying down?Since it is an AGM battery, it is theoretically leak-proof. However, the YTB9 is primarily designed as a replacement for the YB9-B, which was always fitted upright. The terminals are therefore often arranged to fit best when upright. Technically, there is nothing against a VRLA battery (provided it is activated and sealed by the manufacturer) being tilted, but with vintage vehicles, the upright position is usually preferred. My scooter has an acid sensor, does it still work? Some old Vespa or Piaggio models had a level sensor that was inserted into one of the plugs of the wet battery. As the YTB9 has no plugs (it is maintenance-free), you can no longer use this sensor. But that's not a problem: as the battery does not lose water, you no longer need a warning light for it. Just insulate the cable for the sensor well.
The Yuasa YTX12-BS (often simply referred to as YTX12 listed when filled at the factory) is one of the most frequently installed standard types for motorbikes worldwide. It is the "big brother" of the YTX9-BS and, with approx. 10 Ah (10h) or 10.5 Ah (20h) and 180 A cold start current, offers the ideal balance of size and performance for medium to heavy motorbikes (600cc to 1200cc). It is used in countless naked bikes, sports bikes and enduro bikes from Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph, Aprilia and Honda.Highlights at a glanceThe bestseller: One of the most popular battery sizes ever (150 x 87 x 130 mm), installed in millions of vehicles such as Kawasaki Z750/Z1000, Suzuki V-Strom 650 or Triumph Bonneville.AGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass fleece (Absorbent Glass Mat), which makes the battery leak-proof (up to 45° inclination) and very vibration-resistant.Solid starting power: With 180 A (EN) cold start current, it reliably starts multi-cylinder engines even in cooler temperatures.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after initial filling and sealing; no water loss, no topping up.Long service life: The robust Yuasa construction with sulphation brake ensures above-average durability when the battery is maintained in winter.YTX12 vs. YTX12-BS: Technically identical. "BS" means that the acid pack is supplied separately (dry pre-charged), while "YTX12" (without BS) is often the designation for the factory-filled version. The all-rounder for Kawasaki, Suzuki & Co.The YTX12-BS is the standard for the middle and upper class. It fits into the battery box of the Kawasaki Z-series (Z750, Z800, Z1000, ZX-10R), the Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom and SV 650 (older models), the Triumph Street Triple / Speed Triple (many years of construction), the Aprilia RSV 1000 or the Honda CBR 1100 XX Blackbird. The YTX12-BS fits not in motorbikes built for the smaller A or B types. What is the difference to the YTX14-BS?The YTX14-BS has the same footprint (150x87 mm), but is higher (145 mm instead of 130 mm).If you have space above (approx. 1.5 cm), you can theoretically upgrade to the more powerful YTX14-BS (more starting current). However, if the seat is a tight fit (which is usually the case), only the YTX12-BS will fit.Do I need to charge the battery before installation? With the BS version (acid pack included): Yes. After filling with acid, the battery has approx. 75-80% charge. For maximum service life, you should always bring it to 100% with a charger ("top-up charge") before starting the engine for the first time. With the factory-filled version (YTX12): Measure the voltage. If it is below 12.6 V, you should recharge. Can I install this battery horizontally? The YTX12-BS is designed for the standing installation (vertical). It is safe up to a certain angle of inclination, but for completely horizontal installation (90°) many manufacturers recommend the "Factory Activated" (factory-filled) versions (often labelled "WC") or special gel/lithium batteries to be 100% sure that no error has occurred during activation.
The Yuasa YTX20HL-BS (or YTX20HL-WC as a factory-filled version) is an absolute heavyweight battery from the "High Performance" series. It was specially developed for motorbikes with a very large displacement, heavy tourers, snowmobiles and ATVs. With a capacity of 18 Ah (10h) or 18.9 Ah (20h) and a massive cold cranking current of 310 A (EN), it is one of the most powerful models in the Yuasa range. The "L" in the name stands for the special pole arrangement (positive pole right), the "H" for the increased starting power.Highlights at a glanceHigh Performance Power (H-Series): Delivers impressive 310 A cold cranking current. This is significantly more than the standard version (270 A) to reliably start high-displacement V2 engines and high-compression engines.Special polarity (Type L): The "L" stands for a reversed pole arrangement. For this model, the positive pole right (when looking at the terminals from the front), which is mandatory for many Harley-Davidson models and import vehicles.Heavy Duty AGM Technology: The electrolyte is retained in the glass mat, making the battery extremely vibration-resistant. This is crucial for V2 machines (Harleys) which generate strong vibrations.Maximum capacity: With nearly 19 Ah, it offers enormous reserves for extensive accessories such as high-power audio systems, additional headlights, winches (for ATVs), or heated seats.Cold-start guarantee: Thanks to the high performance, it is also the ideal choice for snowmobiles and ATVs, which need to start reliably in extreme sub-zero temperatures.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve-regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after activation; topping up with water is not necessary. The powerhouse for Harley, Polaris & Ski-DooThe YTX20HL-BS is the premium solution for "big twins" and off-road vehicles. The HL version has an optimised plate design and more starting power. For a heavy V2 engine or in winter use you should always choose the HL version. The dimensions are identical. What is the difference to the YTX20H-BS (without L)?The difference is the polarity. This is the most common wrong purchase!YTX20H-BS: Positive pole is left.YTX20HL-BS (Your battery): Positive pole is right. The cables in your motorbike are usually very short. If you buy the incorrect polarity, the cables will not reach the terminals. Be sure to check your old battery: Where is the positive? Will this battery fit my Harley Davidson?Very often yes, but Harley uses several types. The YTX20HL-BS is the replacement for the original Harley number 65989-97 (Softail, Dyna etc.). However, if your Harley is an extra large touring model (E-Glide), you may need the even wider YIX30L. Measure the box: If it's around 17.5 cm wide, the YTX20HL will fit. What does WC vs. BS mean?BS (Bottle Supplied): The battery is supplied dry with an acid pack. You must fill it yourself (easy and safe). Advantage: Unlimited shelf life before activation.WC (Wet Charged): The battery is factory filled and sealed. Advantage: Ready to install ("Plug & Play"). Technically equivalent after activation.
The Yuasa YTX4L-BS (often also referred to as YTX4L) is a very compact and lightweight AGM battery, specially developed for modern 50cc scooters, mopeds and small dirt bikes. With a capacity of 3 Ah (10h) or 3.2 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of 50 A (EN), it reliably supplies power for the electric starter of small engines. It is the modern, maintenance-free standard that has replaced older wet batteries in many current vehicles.Highlights at a glanceThe standard for 50cc scooters: The most widespread battery size for modern 50cc scooters (4-stroke and 2-stroke) as well as small enduros (e.g. KTM 50 SX).Compact format: At only 86 mm high, it is extremely flat and also fits in very tightly built battery compartments under the footboard or seat bench.AGM technology: The acid is immobilised in the glass mat (Absorbent Glass Mat), which makes the battery leak-proof, vibration-resistant and cycle-resistant – ideal for the "stop & go" in city traffic.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after the first filling; topping up with water is not necessary and not possible.Reliable starting: Despite its small size, it delivers 50 A starting current, which is completely sufficient for small displacements.Long lifespan: The robust Yuasa construction forgives occasional periods of non-use better than cheap no-name products, provided it is not deeply discharged. The standard for Honda, KTM & KymcoThe YTX4L-BS is the original equipment for countless vehicles. The YTX4L-BS is flatter. You can often use the YTX4L-BS as a replacement for the YB4L-B (possibly pad underneath so it doesn't wobble), but conversely, the taller YB4L-B often won't fit into scooters built for the flat YTX4L-BS.What is the difference to the YTX5L-BS?The base area is identical (114 x 71 mm), but the height is different.YTX4L-BS: 86 mm high (3 Ah).YTX5L-BS: 106 mm high (4 Ah). The YTX5L has more power, but is 2 cm taller. Before buying, check whether your battery box has 2 cm of extra room above. If so, the 5L is a great upgrade. If not, you must stick with the 4L.Do I need to charge the battery?Yes, absolutely. As the battery is very small, the ratio of acid volume to lead is sensitive. After filling (with BS version), it is about 75% charged. Charge it fully with a suitable charger (max. 0.3 - 0.4 ampere charging current) before installation to achieve full lifespan. Can I install it lying down? The YTX4L-BS is an AGM battery and thus leak-proof. Many modern scooters (e.g. Honda) install this battery lying under the footboard. This is permissible provided the battery has been correctly sealed with the seal after activation.
The Yuasa YTZ8V (as "WC" / Wet Charged version) is the ultimate performance upgrade for the widely used YTX7L battery size. It offers a significantly higher capacity of 7 Ah (10h) or 7.4 Ah (20h) and more starting power in exactly the same dimensions. This makes it the first choice for modern motorbikes and scooters (such as the Yamaha R3 or Honda SH) that have a lot of electronics on board or have start-stop systems. Thanks to factory activation, it is immediately ready for use and extremely safe.Highlights at a glanceHigh Performance Upgrade: Offers more capacity (7.4 Ah vs. 6 Ah) and higher starting current (120 A vs. 100 A) than the standard YTX7L-BS with exactly the same size.Factory Activated (WC): The battery is supplied factory-filled, charged and hermetically sealed ("Plug & Play"). No contact with acid, ready for immediate use.Precisely fitting 7L format: Measuring 113 x 70 x 130 mm, it fits perfectly into battery compartments designed for the YTX7L, but delivers significantly more energy reserves.AGM Technology: The electrolyte is completely bound in the glass fleece, which makes it extremely vibration-resistant and leak-proof.Ideal for Start-Stop: The higher capacity and fast current consumption make it ideal for scooters with automatic switch-off (e.g. Honda SH / PCX newer generations).Long service life: The robust plate design ensures high cycle stability and low self-discharge, ideal for seasonally used vehicles. The standard for Yamaha R3 & Honda SHThe YTZ8V is the modern original equipment battery for vehicles that would previously have used a YTX7L but now require more power. The YTX5L is 1.3 cm higher than the classic YB4L-B. If your classic vehicle (e.g. Simson) has room above, the YTX5L is a great technical upgrade (maintenance-free, more starting current). If space is tight, it will not fit. What does YTZ6V or YTZ7S mean?In newer sports enduros (KTM, Honda), batteries labelled YTZ6V or YTZ7S are often installed at the factory. These have the same size as the YTX5L-BS (114x71x106 mm), but an even higher performance and capacity (High Performance AGM). The YTX5L-BS is the affordable standard alternative, and the YTZ models are the more expensive premium upgrades.Do I need to charge the battery?Yes. As the volume is relatively small, the battery is sensitive to undercharging. After filling (BS version), it should definitely be fully charged with a motorcycle charger (max. 0.4 - 0.6 amp charging current) before installation. This guarantees full starting power for the single-cylinder.
The Yuasa YTX20L-BS (or YTX20L as factory-filled variant) is a robust standard AGM battery for heavy motorbikes, ATVs and water sports equipment. With a capacity of 18 Ah (10h) or 18.9 Ah (20h) and a cold cranking current of 270 A (EN), it provides a solid and reliable power supply for vehicles that need a lot of starting power, but do not necessarily require the high-performance peaks of the more expensive “H” series. The “L” denotes the special pole arrangement with the positive terminal on the right side.Highlights at a glanceProven standard: The reliable basic version for large displacements. Ideal for vehicles where durability and value for money are paramount.Special polarity (type L): The “L” stands for the pole arrangement positive terminal right. This is the standard for many American motorbikes (Harley-Davidson) as well as numerous jet skis and quads.AGM technology: Because the electrolyte is bound in glass fibre, the battery is leak-proof (up to 45° tilt) and highly resistant to vibrations – perfect for tough use on water or off-road.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after the initial filling; topping up with water is not necessary.High capacity: With almost 19 Ah, it offers enough buffer for on-board electronics and accessories, even when the engine is not running.Versatile use: A genuine all-rounder, just as at home in cruiser motorbikes as in snowmobiles and jet skis (PWC).The standard for Harley, Goldwing & Jet-SkiThe YTX20L-BS is the standard replacement battery for a wide range of Harley-Davidson models (Sportster, Dyna, Softail – note the year of manufacture!), older Honda Goldwing models (GL 1800), Triumph Rocket III and many Yamaha and Sea-Doo jet skis. The standard version is cheaper and is perfectly adequate for normal use and moderate climates. If you ride in extreme sub-zero temperatures or have a high-compression tuning engine, you should opt for the HL version. What is the difference from the YTX20-BS (without L)?The difference is the polarity.YTX20-BS: Positive terminal is left.YTX20L-BS (your battery): Positive terminal is right. Since battery cables on motorbikes are usually very short and rigid, the wrong battery often cannot be connected. Check the position of the terminals on your old battery before buying.Does this battery fit in a jet ski?Yes, the YTX20L-BS is one of the most frequently used batteries for jet skis (PWC) from Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Polaris. Thanks to AGM technology, it is leak-proof and can withstand “bouncing” on the waves. Good maintenance is particularly important in winter (removal and charging), as jet skis often have long periods of inactivity.
The Yuasa YTX16-BS (often also referred to as YTX16 when factory-filled) is a high-performance AGM battery specially developed for motorcycles with increased energy requirements. It shares its footprint with the widely used 12 and 14 models, but makes maximum use of the available height in the battery box to accommodate more lead plates and acid volume. With a capacity of 14 Ah (10h) or 14.7 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of 230 A (EN), it offers significantly more reserves for large-displacement cruisers and touring machines.Highlights at a glanceMaximum capacity in a small area: Uses the standard footprint (150 x 87 mm), but at 161 mm is significantly higher than a YTX14. This results in almost 15 Ah capacity for long service life and plenty of accessories.AGM technology: The acid is bound in glass fleece (Absorbent Glass Mat), making the battery leak-proof, vibration-resistant and cycle-resistant – ideal for heavy V2 cruisers.Strong starting power: With 230 A cold start current, it reliably turns over even large engines (like 1500 or 1600 V-Twins).Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after initial filling; topping up water is neither possible nor necessary. The "high-rise" format: Specially designed for battery boxes that are deep but allow little width (e.g. Kawasaki VN 1500/1600, Suzuki Marauder 1600).Long service life: The robust construction and larger amount of acid provide better thermal stability and durability compared to smaller batteries. The powerhouse for heavy cruisersThe YTX16-BS is the standard battery for many "big bikes", especially from the chopper and cruiser segment. It is indispensable for models such as the Kawasaki VN 1500 / 1600 Mean Streak, the Suzuki VZ 1600 Marauder or even some Triumph Tiger 800 models (depending on year/equipment). It provides enough buffer to keep the voltage stable even with a lot of chrome accessories (auxiliary headlights, sound systems). The difference is the height.YTX14-BS: 145 mm high (12 Ah).YTX16-BS: 161 mm high (14 Ah). The YTX16 is 1.6 cm higher. It only fits in vehicles that have this extra space at the top. Theoretically it can be used as an upgrade for the YTX14 if the seat can then still close. What is the difference to the YTX20-BS?The YTX20-BS is a completely different size class.YTX16-BS: 150 mm long.YTX20-BS: 175 mm long. The 20 battery is much longer and will not fit in the 16 holder. Is there a YTX16-BS-1?Yes, the suffix "-1" at Yuasa often indicates a different pole arrangement or terminal type. With the YTX16-BS-1 the pole arrangement is usually identical (positive left), but to be sure always check the pictures of the terminals and the position of positive/negative on your old battery before ordering.Do I need to be aware of anything with the BS version?Yes, with the "Bottle Supplied" version you have to fill in the acid yourself. Important: After filling, leave the battery open for approx. 1 hour ("outgassing") before pressing on the sealing strip. Then charge it fully with a motorcycle charger. Once sealed, it must never be opened again.
The Yuasa YTX14H-WC is the performance-enhanced "High Performance" version of the widely used YTX14 standard battery. The "H" in the type designation stands for a significantly higher starting power, which is achieved by an optimised grid structure and additional plates inside. With 240 A cold start current (instead of the usual 200 A), it offers significant reserves for engines that are difficult to start, large V2 units or use at low temperatures. The suffix "WC" (Wet Charged) usually identifies it as a factory-filled and sealed variant that is ready for immediate use.Highlights at a glanceHigh performance series: Delivers up to 20% more cold starting current (240 A) than the standard YTX14, which ensures powerful cranking of the starter especially with large displacements.Wet Charged (WC): The battery is usually supplied factory filled, charged, and hermetically sealed, eliminating the need to handle acid packs and enabling immediate installation.AGM technology: Due to the electrolyte bound in the glass mat, the battery is leak-proof, extremely vibration-resistant, and maintenance-free (no need to top up water).Identical dimensions: Despite higher performance, it has exactly the same case (150 x 87 x 145 mm) as the standard battery and fits into the battery box without modifications.Cold start specialist: Ideal for vehicles also used in winter (e.g. snowmobiles, ATVs) or motorcycles with high current demands at start (ABS systems).Long service life: The compacted plate structure and the sulphation inhibitor ensure high cycle resistance and robustness against vibrations. The power pack for BMW & V-TwinsThe YTX14H-WC is the ideal upgrade for motorcycles that are equipped with a 12Ah/14Ah battery at the factory but struggle to start. It is particularly popular with riders of the BMW R1200 GS (LC), large Honda V-Twins (VTX 1300, Shadow 1100), Aprilia Dorsoduro/Shiver or various Piaggio maxi scooters. It often eliminates the problem of the "tired starter" after cold nights. The H version has more lead plates in the same space. It is slightly heavier, but starts the engine much more vigorously. Can I install this battery flat?As the "WC" version is a factory-sealed VRLA battery (AGM), it is leak-proof. Many manufacturers allow installation lying flat up to a certain angle. As the mat completely binds the acid, the risk of leakage is minimised as long as the case is undamaged.Do I have to recharge the battery?Although "Wet Charged" batteries are supplied charged, they can lose voltage during storage. Measure the voltage before installation: If it is below 12.6 V, you should fully charge the battery once with a suitable motorcycle charger (AGM-capable) to guarantee maximum service life.
The Yuasa YT14B-BS (often also referred to as YT14B-4) is a special AGM high-performance battery with the characteristic, very slim design. It is the "big brother" of the YT12B-BS and was specially developed for heavy motorbikes that have little space in width but nevertheless require a high capacity. With approx. 12 Ah (according to the 10h standard) or 12.6 Ah (according to the 20h standard) and a cold start current of 210 A, it is the standard power unit for large Yamaha tourers and cruisers.Highlights at a glanceExtra slim design: At only 70 mm wide, it is extremely slim (just like the YT12B, but taller) to fit into special battery boxes where standard batteries would be too thick.AGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass fleece, which makes the battery leak-proof, extremely vibration-resistant and maintenance-free – ideal for heavy touring machines.High capacity: Offers 12.6 Ah, providing sufficient reserves for additional electrical consumers such as heated grips, navigation devices or electric windscreens on touring bikes.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), there is no need to top up with water; the system is hermetically sealed after initial filling.Reliable start: Delivers approximately 210 A cold start current to reliably start even large-displacement four-cylinder or V2 engines in cold conditions.Yamaha specialist: Was developed specifically as original equipment for models such as the Yamaha FJR 1300 or MT-01.The specialist for Yamaha FJR & MT-01The YT14B-BS is almost inextricably linked to the Yamaha brand. It is the original battery for the Yamaha FJR 1300 (all model years), the Yamaha MT-01 (1700cc), the Yamaha XJR 1300 (from 2007) or the Yamaha BT 1100 Bulldog. These motorbikes have a very narrow battery compartment into which the regular "YTX14-BS" (which is much thicker) does not fit mechanically. The YTX14-BS is almost 2 cm thicker. You can't fit the YTX14-BS in a Yamaha FJR 1300. So be sure to look for the "B" in the name (YT14B).What is the difference to the YT12B-BS?Both are equally slim (70 mm) and equally long. The difference is in the height and performance.YT12B-BS: 130 mm high (approx. 10 Ah).YT14B-BS: 145 mm high (approx. 12.6 Ah). So the YT14B is 1.5 cm taller. It offers more power, but only fits if there is still room upwards (often the seat or frame strut). Upgrading from 12B to 14B is usually not mechanically possible.Do I have to charge the battery before installation? For the "BS" version (with acid pack), fill in the acid and allow the battery to stand ("gas out") for approx. 30–60 minutes. It then has about 70–80% charge. To achieve the maximum service life, it is strongly recommended to fully charge it with a motorbike charger before installation. With the factory-filled version (YT14B-4), you should check the voltage and recharge if necessary if it has been on the shelf for a long time.
The Yuasa YT9B-BS (often also referred to as YT9B-4) is a specialised AGM battery in a flat design. It fills exactly the gap between the very small YT7B and the larger YT12B. With a capacity of approx. 8 Ah (10h) or 8.4 Ah (20h) and a cold cranking current of approx. 115 A (EN), it is the standard power source for many mid-range motorbikes and maxi scooters, especially from Yamaha. It combines compact dimensions with high vibration resistance for single-cylinder engines.Highlights at a glanceFlat housing: At only 70 mm width it is significantly narrower than standard batteries (such as the YTX9-BS), making it ideal for slim tail frames or tight fairings.AGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass mat, making the battery leak-proof (up to 45° tilt) and extremely vibration-proof – perfect for the "vibrating plate" Yamaha XT660.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve-regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after the first fill; topping up with water is not possible and not required.Starting power for singles: Reliably delivers the necessary current (~115 A) to turn large single cylinders (660cc) past top dead centre.Long service life: The sulphation inhibitor and robust construction ensure good durability, even in seasonal use (with proper care).Yamaha standard: Specially developed as original equipment for the popular 660 models and the T-Max scooter. The standard for Yamaha XT660 & T-MaxThe YT9B-BS is the indispensable battery for owners of a Yamaha XT660 (R, X or Z Tenere) as well as the Yamaha MT-03 (the old 660 version). These single-cylinder motorcycles need a vibration-resistant battery that fits the narrow compartment. Early models of the maxi scooter Yamaha T-Max 500 also use this special type. Both are the same length (150 mm) and the same height (105 mm). The difference is in the Width.YTX9-BS: 87 mm wide (the "thick" standard, e.g. Kawasaki Z750, Honda CBR).YT9B-BS: 70 mm wide (the "slim" special version, e.g. Yamaha XT660). If you ride a Yamaha XT660, the YTX9-BS will not fit into the compartment (too thick). Pay close attention to the "B" in the middle (YT9B).What does YT9B-4 mean? This is technically the same battery as the YT9B-BS.YT9B-BS: "Bottle Supplied" – The battery is supplied dry pre-charged with a separate acid pack (shipping standard).YT9B-4: Often the code for the already factory-filled and sealed version (Factory Activated). Dimensions and performance values are identical. Can I install the battery lying down?Yes, to some extent. As it is an AGM battery, the acid is bound. Many manufacturers (like Yamaha in the T-Max or Ducati in other models) install this battery type horizontally. It is important that after filling (in the BS version) the battery rests for about 1 hour and is then sealed 100% correctly with the sealing strip. It is then leak-proof.Is the starting power sufficient for my 660 in winter? The YT9B-BS is sufficiently dimensioned for the 660 engine, but does not have huge reserves. In very cold temperatures and with viscous oil, the starter has difficulty with single-cylinder engines. Make sure to recharge the battery regularly in winter (maintenance charger), as even a small voltage drop can mean the starter won't turn the piston over compression.
The Yuasa YT12A-BS (often referred to as "WC" for "Wet Charged" when supplied already filled) is a compact high-performance motorbike battery in AGM technology. It has been specially developed to provide high starting power in a very small case. It is the standard for many modern Suzuki sports bikes which have little space under the seat but need to start a powerful engine. With a capacity of approx. 10–10.5 Ah and 175 A cold starting current, it is extremely power-dense.Highlights at a glanceAGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass fibre mat (Absorbent Glass Mat), which makes the battery leak-proof (up to 45° tilt) and highly resistant to vibration.High power density: Delivers the starting power of a classic YTX12-BS, but is much smaller and lighter to save weight on the motorbike.Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve regulated), there is no need to refill with water throughout its lifetime (never open!).Special format: Dimensions of 150 x 87 x 105 mm – a special size which is hardly mechanically replaceable by other types.Long service life: Sulfation inhibitor ensures longer durability, even if the motorbike stands unused for longer (with proper care).WC vs. BS: "WC" usually means factory filled/activated, "BS" is supplied with an acid pack (Bottle Supplied) for initial filling; they are technically identical. The compact powerhouse for Suzuki GSX-R and SVThis battery is well-known as the original equipment for the Suzuki GSX-R 750/1000, the Suzuki SV 650 (K3 models or newer) or the Suzuki Bandit 1250. The engineers here chose a battery that is extremely flat (only 10.5 cm high) and narrow, to optimise the motorbike's centre of gravity. It should never be confused with the normal YTX12-BS, which is much taller and would not fit. Check the offer exactly. If it arrives dry: add acid, leave to stand for 30 min, charge, done.Do I need to top up this battery with water?Yes. This is a conventional battery with vent. You should check the fluid level 1-2 times a year (or more in high temperatures/high mileage). If it's below the "Lower Level" mark, please top up with distilled water (no acid!).Where is the vent pipe connected? The battery has a small opening on the side (usually right). The transparent vent hose must be connected there. This directs gases and any acid droplets that may escape downwards onto the road. Make sure that the hose is not kinked, otherwise the battery can burst. Is there a maintenance-free alternative?Yes, GEL or AGM batteries are now available for this format (often under the name 51913-GEL or similar). These are completely sealed and leak-proof, but are often a little more expensive and sometimes have a slightly different capacity. For lovers of originality, the classic Yuasa 51913 remains the first choice.
The Yuasa YB16AL-A2 is a powerful 12V lead-acid battery from the proven YuMicron series. With a nominal capacity of 16 Ah, it was specially developed for high-performance motorbikes and vehicles that require increased starting power, such as the legendary Yamaha V-Max 1200 or various Ducati models (916, 748, Monster). The difference is in the arrangement of the terminals and the vent hose.12N5.5-4A (your battery): Positive terminal right, vent right.12N5.5-3B: Positive terminal right, vent left (and terminals often reversed/differently positioned). Be sure to check on which side your motorcycle requires the vent hose and the cable connections. The hose must not be laid across the battery. Is acid included?Depends on the dealer: Due to legal regulations (EU regulations), end customers are often not allowed to receive separate acid packs any more. Many dealers therefore send the battery already filled and activated. If you buy it in the shop, you often get it dry with an acid pack ("DC" = Dry Charged) and have to fill it yourself.Do I need to top up water?Yes, check regularly: As this is an open lead-acid battery, water evaporates during operation. Check the level 1-2 times per season. Top up only with distilled water if necessary (never refill with acid, except on first filling!).What is the hose on the side for?Safety venting: This is the overflow hose. It must be connected and routed so that it leads under the motorcycle into the open air (not onto the exhaust or chain!). Because the battery releases gas and acid droplets can escape, the hose prevents corrosion damage to the frame.

Weight (kg)approx. 4.6 (incl. acid) / 3.4 (dry) FAQs for Yuasa YB14-A2Will this battery fit if I previously had a YB14L-A2?No, this will not fit. The difference is the small letter "L". With the YB14-A2 the positive terminal is on the left. With the YB14L-A2 the positive terminal is on the right. Since the battery cables on the motorbike are usually quite short, it is often not possible to connect the wrong battery. Please check your old battery's terminal arrangement before purchasing. How long should the battery rest after filling? After filling the battery acid, allow the battery about 30 to 60 minutes ("outgassing"). During this time, the acid settles in the mat and between the plates, and the chemical reaction begins.Do I need to charge the battery?Yes. Although a "dry charged" battery already has a basic voltage (approx. 70-80%) after filling, a complete initial charge with a suitable 12V charger is mandatory for full performance and long service life. What does "A2" mean in the designation? The "A2" (and similar codes such as A1, B2) refers to the exact position of the vent hole and the shape of the terminal posts. For the YB14-A2, the vent is on the left (viewed from the positive terminal), and the terminals are usually flat posts with a hole. Ensure the vent hose does not get kinked.
