The "L" in the name here does not stand for polarity, but is part of the size designation for this special "short and high" battery type. Both have approx. 6 Ah, but completely different dimensions.YTX7L (your battery): 114 mm long, 71 mm wide (Slim & High).YTX7A: 150 mm long, 87 mm wide (Wide & Flat). They do not fit each other mechanically. A Honda CBR needs the slim 7L, a Kymco scooter usually the wide 7A.What does "WC" actually mean?"WC" stands for "Wet Charged". This means that the battery has already been filled with acid and sealed at the factory. In contrast to the "BS" variant (Bottle Supplied), where you have to fill the acid yourself, you do not have this task here. Technically, both variants are identical after activation.Can I use a YTZ7S or YTZ8V instead?Yes, these are the "High Performance" upgrades. In modern start-stop scooters (Honda SH from 2013) these are often mandatory. In older vehicles they are a powerful but more expensive upgrade for the YTX7L.Do I have to recharge the battery?Even with a "Wet Charged" battery, you should measure the voltage before installation. It may have discharged during storage. If the voltage is below 12.6 V, please top it up with a motorcycle charger to avoid starting problems and premature wear.

A small trickle charger (0.8 A) would take forever to fully charge it. AGM batteries also usually have a slightly lower internal resistance, which leads to a stronger starter crank ("faster starting"), while gel batteries are better for very long storage without recharging. For regular use, AGM is often the more spirited choice.Does this battery fit the newer R1200 GS?No, caution!R1100 / R1150 (up to approx. 2004): Use this large YT19BL-BS (19Ah).R1200 GS (from 2004): Use the much smaller YTX14-BS (12Ah). Please check the year!Why does my ABS flash when starting?On BMW R1100/1150 models, the ABS checks the on-board voltage when starting. If this drops below a certain value during starting (because the battery is old or weak), the ABS goes into "fault" (alternating blinking). The strong YT19BL-BS usually solves this problem, as it keeps the voltage stable and high during starting.

Check the manual: if lead-acid is specified, the YT7B-BS is correct.How long does this small battery last?As the battery is very small and has little reserve capacity (6.8 Ah), it reacts sensitively to long periods of standstill (winter) or silent consumers (alarm system, clock). A good trickle charger ("maintainer") is almost compulsory for this type if the motorbike is left for more than 2-3 weeks to ensure it starts again in spring.

Technically, there is nothing against a VRLA battery (provided it is activated and sealed by the manufacturer) being tilted, but with vintage vehicles, the upright position is usually preferred.My scooter has an acid sensor, does it still work?Some old Vespa or Piaggio models had a level sensor that was inserted into one of the plugs of the wet battery. As the YTB9 has no plugs (it is maintenance-free), you can no longer use this sensor. But that's not a problem: as the battery does not lose water, you no longer need a warning light for it. Just insulate the cable for the sensor well.

With the YB14-A2 the positive terminal is on the left. With the YB14L-A2 the positive terminal is on the right. Since the battery cables on the motorbike are usually quite short, it is often not possible to connect the wrong battery. Please check your old battery's terminal arrangement before purchasing.How long should the battery rest after filling?After filling the battery acid, allow the battery about 30 to 60 minutes ("outgassing").
