The Yuasa YTX14H-WC is the performance-enhanced "High Performance" version of the widely used YTX14 standard battery. The "H" in the type designation stands for a significantly higher starting power, which is achieved by an optimised grid structure and additional plates inside. With 240 A cold start current (instead of the usual 200 A), it offers significant reserves for engines that are difficult to start, large V2 units or use at low temperatures. The suffix "WC" (Wet Charged) usually identifies it as a factory-filled and sealed variant that is ready for immediate use.

FAQs for Yuasa YTX14H-WC

What is the difference from the standard YTX14-BS?

The only difference is in the performance, not in the size.

  • YTX14-BS (standard): approx. 200 A starting current.
  • YTX14H-WC (High Performance): approx. 240 A starting current. The H version has more lead plates in the same space. It is slightly heavier, but starts the engine much more vigorously.

Can I install this battery flat?

As the "WC" version is a factory-sealed VRLA battery (AGM), it is leak-proof. Many manufacturers allow installation lying flat up to a certain angle. As the mat completely binds the acid, the risk of leakage is minimised as long as the case is undamaged.

Do I have to recharge the battery?

Although "Wet Charged" batteries are supplied charged, they can lose voltage during storage. Measure the voltage before installation: If it is below 12.6 V, you should fully charge the battery once with a suitable motorcycle charger (AGM-capable) to guarantee maximum service life.
