The Golden Power PX27A is a high-quality 6-volt alkaline special battery, specially developed to meet the energy needs of precision instruments and analogue cameras. It is the modern, environmentally friendly successor to the previously used PX27 mercury battery.Technically speaking, the PX27A is a stack of four LR43 button cells (hence the name 4LR43), which are combined in a custom-fit housing to form a 6V unit. This battery will breathe new life into your classics from Minox, Rollei or Yashica and ensures reliable exposure metering and shutter speeds.Highlights at a glanceExact fit: Replaces the classic types PX27, V27PX, KX27, HS3C and 4LR43 in analogue cameras and measuring devices.High voltage level: Provides constant 6.0 volts of energy for electronic shutters, light meters and remote controls.Mercury-free: Modern alkaline technology (0% Hg) as a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to banned mercury cells.Long shelf life: Thanks to high-quality seals and low self-discharge, the battery remains ready for use for years.Robust housing: The metal-clad construction protects against leakage and ensures stable contact in the battery compartment.Areas of applicationThe PX27A is a niche battery, but is essential for the use of certain vintage devices:Analogue cameras: Minox (C, EC, LX, TLX), Rollei (35 LED, A110), Yashica (Atoron Electro) and many more models from the 70s and 80s.Light meters: Various older handheld exposure meters.Remote controls: Older garage door openers or special infrared transmitters.Other: Electronic dog collars or medical measuring devices.Assembly & safety instructionsPolarity: When inserting the battery, pay meticulous attention to the "+ / -" marking. In many Minox cameras, the positive pole is often inserted in a particular direction (usually towards the lid) – check the engraving in the battery compartment.Voltage difference: The original PX27 (mercury) had 5.6 volts. This alkaline version has 6.0 volts. Most cameras with an electronic shutter (e.g. Minox C) tolerate this slight overvoltage without any problems thanks to internal voltage stabilisation. In pure rangefinder cameras, there may be minimal deviations in the exposure metering.Disposal: Empty batteries do not belong in household waste, but in the collection boxes in shops or at the recycling centre. Never attempt to recharge an alkaline battery, as it may outgas or explode. Can I use four individual LR43 batteries instead?Theoretically yes, practically difficult. The PX27A internally consists of four LR43 cells. If you stack four individual LR43 cells in the compartment, you will have the same voltage (6V), but often the lateral support is missing (the diameter of the case is absent) and the contact becomes shaky. Moreover, stacking is "fiddly". The PX27A as a ready-made block is the much more reliable solution. How long does the battery last in a camera? That depends greatly on use. In a Minox camera that mainly uses the power for the shutter magnet and the LED display, a fresh PX27A often lasts 1 to 2 years with moderate use. Remove the battery when you are not using the camera for a long time to prevent leakage.
The Duracell Plus 9V, also known as MN1203, is the reliable alkaline block battery for a variety of everyday and safety-critical devices.
