Sanyo/FDK HR-AAUC NiMH rechargeable battery - Powerful AA cell for versatile applications

The Sanyo/FDK HR-AAUC NiMH rechargeable battery is one of the most reliable and robust industrial rechargeable cells in the classic AA format (Mignon). After FDK took over the battery division of Sanyo (Fujitsu), this tried and tested cell continues to be manufactured to the highest Japanese quality standards. In contrast to conventional consumer rechargeable batteries, which are tuned for maximum capacity, the focus of the HR-AAUC cell (with 1200 mAh at 1.2 volts) is on extreme longevity, overcharge resistance and a broad temperature application range. It is the perfect basis for the construction of durable battery packs in safety-relevant areas or as a high-quality replacement battery for self-installation in shavers, electric toothbrushes and emergency lights.Highlights at a glanceIndustrial Quality: Manufactured to the highest standards by FDK (formerly Sanyo) for maximum reliability and an extremely long service life.Overcharge resistance: The special cell chemistry also tolerates permanent charging (e.g. in emergency lighting or charging stations) without being damaged.Conscious capacity (1200 mAh): For robustness and cycle stability, the capacity has been set lower than for standard consumer cells – ideal for continuous operation.Temperature stable: Provides reliable power even under adverse conditions and demanding temperatures. No memory effect: Thanks to modern nickel-metal hydride technology (NiMH), the battery can be recharged at any time.Versatile contacting: Often available as "Flat-Top" (flat positive terminal) for spot welding or directly with Z or U solder tabs for circuit boards.Areas of applicationThe HR-AAUC cell is the tireless worker for permanently installed battery systems:Household & care devices: The classic replacement battery for high-quality electric toothbrushes, hair clippers or epilators, which are constantly on the charging station.Emergency & safety lighting: Ideal as a backup battery for escape route lights, as it easily withstands permanent trickle charging (overcharging).Medical technology: For mobile diagnostic devices and pumps where reliability and robustness are top priority.Model making & industry: For assembling individual, durable battery packs for remote controls or industrial sensors.Assembly & safety instructionsAssembling battery packs: To connect several cells, only use a spot welding device and auxiliary sheets (nickel strip). Never solder directly to the bare battery terminals (Flat-Top), as the extreme heat of the soldering iron destroys the safety valves and cell chemistry inside.Cells with solder tabs: If you want to solder the battery into a device yourself, be sure to buy the version with industrially spot-welded Z or U solder tabs. These allow you to work safely with the soldering iron.Chargers: Although the cell is very robust, only use NiMH-compatible chargers with delta-U cut-off for external charging to ensure maximum service life.Observe polarity: When soldering into household appliances (e.g. shavers), pay close attention to the polarity of the old cell on the circuit board to avoid short circuits in the electronics. Features Manufacturer / ModelFDK (Sanyo) HR-AAUC Design**AA (Mignon)** Technology**NiMH** (Nickel-Metal Hydride) Nominal voltage**1.2 V** Capacity (typical)**1200 mAh** Positive terminal**Flat Top** (Flat) Dimensions (Ø x H)**14.2 mm x 49.0 mm** Weightapprox. 23 g Charging current (standard)120 mA (approx. 14-16 hours) Field of applicationIndustrial battery packs, emergency lighting, measuring instruments FAQs about the Sanyo/FDK HR-AAUC batteryWhy does this battery only have 1200 mAh, when there are AA batteries with 2500 mAh?This is a deliberate choice for durability. High-capacity batteries (with over 2000 mAh) are often sensitive to overcharge, deep discharge and temperature fluctuations, and age quickly in certain devices. The HR-AAUC industrial cell with 1200 mAh is designed for extreme robustness, overcharge resistance and thousands of charging cycles. It is a "marathon runner", not a "sprinter".Can I charge this battery in a normal household charger?Conditionally, depending on the design. If you have the flat-top version (without solder tabs), it may be that the extremely flat positive terminal does not make contact in the charger, as normal AA batteries there have a raised contact ("nipple"). These industrial cells are primarily intended to be welded into battery packs or soldered into devices.Does the cell say Sanyo or FDK?Mostly FDK. Sanyo was for a long time the leading developer of these cells. However, the NiMH division of Sanyo was taken over a few years ago by FDK (a subsidiary of Fujitsu). The cells are manufactured on the same machines in the same legendary quality but now usually bear the FDK logo.
