Never solder directly onto the bare battery terminals (flat-top), as the extreme heat from the soldering iron will damage the safety valves and the cell chemistry inside.Cells with solder tabs: If you wish to solder the battery into a device yourself, you must purchase the version with Z- or U-shaped solder tabs that have already been industrially pre-tapped. You can then work safely on these with a soldering iron.Chargers: Although the cell is very robust, when charging externally, please only use NiMH-compatible chargers with Delta-U cut-off to ensure maximum service life.Note the polarity: When soldering them into domestic appliances (e.g. electric razors), pay close attention to the polarity of the old cell on the circuit board to avoid short circuits in the electronics. High-capacity cells (with over 2000 mAh) are often sensitive to overcharging, deep discharge and temperature fluctuations, and age quickly in certain devices. The THD-AAUC industrial cell, with a capacity of 1200 mAh, is designed for extreme robustness, resistance to overcharging and thousands of charge cycles. It is a ‘marathon runner’, not a ‘sprinter’.Can I charge this battery in a standard domestic charger?To a certain extent, depending on the design. If you have the flat-top version (without solder tabs), the extremely flat positive terminal may not make contact in the charger, as standard AA rechargeable batteries have a raised contact (‘nipple’) in that position. These industrial cells are primarily intended to be welded into battery packs or soldered into devices.Does the cell say ‘ Sanyo ’ or ‘FDK’?Mostly FDK. Sanyo Sanyo was the leading developer of these cells for a long time. However, ’s NiMH division was taken over by FDK (a subsidiary of Fujitsu) a few years ago. The cells are manufactured on the same machines to the same legendary standard, but now usually bear the FDK logo.
