Yuasa Motorbike battery YTX7A-BS 12V 6Ah (6.3Ah) (AGM maintenance-free)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YTX7A-BS is a very common AGM battery with a flat design. It is the absolute standard for countless 125cc scooters, especially those with the widespread GY6 four-stroke engine (China scooters, Kymco, SYM) as well as for many Suzuki models. With a capacity of 6 Ah (10h) or 6.3 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of 105 A (EN), it reliably delivers the necessary energy for the electric starter of automatic scooters.
Highlights at a glance
- The scooter specialist: The standard battery for millions of 125cc scooters worldwide (Kymco Agility, Suzuki Burgman 125, SYM Orbit etc.).
- Flat format: With dimensions of 150 x 87 x 93 mm, it uses the same base area as a YTX9-BS, but is significantly flatter to fit under the footboard or in flat seat compartments.
- AGM technology: The acid is bound in the glass fleece (Absorbent Glass Mat), making the battery leak-proof and vibration resistant – important for scooters where the battery is often located close to the engine.
- Maintenance-free: Thanks to VRLA technology (valve-regulated), the system is hermetically sealed after the initial filling; topping up water is not necessary.
- Reliability: Offers a solid 105 A starting current, which is perfectly sufficient for 125cc and 150cc single-cylinder engines even in cooler weather.
- BS version: Is usually supplied dry with a separate acid pack, which guarantees a long shelf life before activation.
The standard for GY6 & Suzuki
Anyone riding a 125cc scooter of Asian manufacture (Kymco, SYM, Hyosung) or a Suzuki scooter (Sixteen, Epicuro, Burgman 125/200 up to approx. 2006) will almost always need the YTX7A-BS. It is specifically designed to fit horizontally or vertically into the flat battery compartments of these vehicles.

FAQs about the Yuasa YTX7A-BS
What is the difference to the YTX7L-BS?
This is the most common mix-up! Both have "7" and "BS" in the name, but are completely different.
- YTX7A-BS (your battery): 150 mm long, 87 mm wide (flat & wide). Positive pole left.
- YTX7L-BS (completely different): 113 mm long, 70 mm wide (short & high). Positive pole right. The batteries are not mechanically interchangeable. A scooter designed for a 7A battery cannot accommodate a 7L battery and vice versa.
What is the difference to the YTX9-BS?
Both batteries have exactly the same base area (150 x 87 mm). The difference is the height.
- YTX7A-BS: 93 mm high.
- YTX9-BS: 105 mm high. The YTX9 is 1.2 cm higher and has more performance (8 Ah). If there is clearance in your battery compartment at the top, you could theoretically install the more powerful YTX9. However, in most scooters the space is so tight (lid will not close) that only the flat YTX7A will fit.
Do I need to charge the battery?
Yes. As this is a relatively small battery, the charge level after filling (approx. 75-80%) is often not adequate for maximum service life. Charge the battery fully before installation using a suitable charger (max. 0.6 ampere).
Where is the positive terminal?
With the YTX7A-BS, the positive terminal is on the left side (when viewed from the front at the terminals). This is important, as the cables in the scooter are usually very short and would not reach the other side.Properties
