The Yuasa YTX7L-WC (usually sold as YTX7L-BS when dry pre-charged, or YTX7L when factory-filled) is one of the most common batteries for modern 125cc motorcycles and scooters. The "L" in the name here does not stand for polarity, but is part of the size designation for this special "short and high" battery type. With a capacity of 6 Ah (10h) or 6.3 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of 100 A (EN), it is the standard for almost all Honda 125 models as well as many Kawasaki and Aprilia vehicles.

The YTX7L-WC is inseparably connected with the brand Honda. Almost every Honda scooter (Pantheon, SH, Dylan, PS) and every light motorcycle (CBR 125, VT 125 Shadow, Varadero 125) uses this type. Also with Kawasaki (KLX 250, Z 250 SL) and many Aprilia models (Mojito, SR 125) it is used.

FAQs about the Yuasa YTX7L-WC

What is the difference to the YTX7A-BS?

This is the most important point! Both have approx. 6 Ah, but completely different dimensions.

• YTX7L (your battery): 114 mm long, 71 mm wide (Slim & High).
• YTX7A: 150 mm long, 87 mm wide (Wide & Flat). They do not fit each other mechanically. A Honda CBR needs the slim 7L, a Kymco scooter usually the wide 7A.

What does "WC" actually mean?

"WC" stands for "Wet Charged". This means that the battery has already been filled with acid and sealed at the factory. In contrast to the "BS" variant (Bottle Supplied), where you have to fill the acid yourself, you do not have this task here. Technically, both variants are identical after activation.

Can I use a YTZ7S or YTZ8V instead?

Yes, these are the "High Performance" upgrades. The YTZ7S or YTZ8V have exactly the same size (114x71 mm), are but flatter (106 mm) or the same height and offer significantly more starting current and capacity. In modern start-stop scooters (Honda SH from 2013) these are often mandatory. In older vehicles they are a powerful but more expensive upgrade for the YTX7L.

Do I have to recharge the battery?

Even with a "Wet Charged" battery, you should measure the voltage before installation. It may have discharged during storage. If the voltage is below 12.6 V, please top it up with a motorcycle charger to avoid starting problems and premature wear.
