The Yuasa YTX20HL-BS (or YTX20HL-WC as a factory-filled version) is an absolute heavyweight battery from the "High Performance" series. It was specially developed for motorbikes with a very large displacement, heavy tourers, snowmobiles and ATVs. With a capacity of 18 Ah (10h) or 18.9 Ah (20h) and a massive cold cranking current of 310 A (EN), it is one of the most powerful models in the Yuasa range. The "L" in the name stands for the special pole arrangement (positive pole right), the "H" for the increased starting power.

• High Performance Power (H-Series): Delivers impressive 310 A cold cranking current. This is significantly more than the standard version (270 A) to reliably start high-displacement V2 engines and high-compression engines.
• Special polarity (Type L): The "L" stands for a reversed pole arrangement. For this model, the positive pole right (when looking at the terminals from the front), which is mandatory for many Harley-Davidson models and import vehicles.
• Heavy Duty AGM Technology: The electrolyte is retained in the glass mat, making the battery extremely vibration-resistant. This is crucial for V2 machines (Harleys) which generate strong vibrations.

It fits in many Harley-Davidson Softail, Dyna and Sportster models (be sure to check polarity!), in large Victory cruisers, in Triumph Rocket III or in heavy ATVs/quads from Polaris (Sportsman) and Can-Am. This battery is also the standard for maximum reliability under extreme conditions for water sports craft (Sea-Doo jet skis) and snowmobiles (Ski-Doo, Yamaha).

What is the difference to the YTX20L-BS (without H)?

The difference lies in power.

• YTX20L-BS (Standard): 270 A cold cranking current.
• YTX20HL-BS (High Performance): 310 A cold cranking current. The HL version has an optimised plate design and more starting power. For a heavy V2 engine or in winter use you should always choose the HL version. The dimensions are identical.

What is the difference to the YTX20H-BS (without L)?

The difference is the polarity. This is the most common wrong purchase!

• YTX20H-BS: Positive pole is left.
• YTX20HL-BS (Your battery): Positive pole is right. The cables in your motorbike are usually very short. If you buy the incorrect polarity, the cables will not reach the terminals. Be sure to check your old battery: Where is the positive?

Will this battery fit my Harley Davidson?

Very often yes, but Harley uses several types. The YTX20HL-BS is the replacement for the original Harley number 65989-97 (Softail, Dyna etc.). However, if your Harley is an extra large touring model (E-Glide), you may need the even wider YIX30L. Measure the box: If it's around 17.5 cm wide, the YTX20HL will fit.

What does WC vs. BS mean?

• BS (Bottle Supplied): The battery is supplied dry with an acid pack. You must fill it yourself (easy and safe). Advantage: Unlimited shelf life before activation.
• WC (Wet Charged): The battery is factory filled and sealed. Advantage: Ready to install ("Plug & Play"). Technically equivalent after activation.
