Yuasa Motorbike battery YB14-A2 (DC) 12V 14Ah
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YB14-A2 is a powerful 12V lead-acid battery from the renowned YuMicron series, specially developed for the requirements of motorbikes, ride-on mowers and snowmobiles. With a capacity of 14 Ah, it offers significantly more reserves than standard batteries and is ideal for classic touring bikes and bikes with many accessories (e.g. Honda CB series, Kawasaki GPZ, Suzuki GS). The patented "Sulphate Stop" technology ensures that the battery remains efficient even after long periods of inactivity by minimising harmful plate sulphation.
Highlights at a glance
- Maximum starting power: Thanks to YuMicron technology (thin separators for more plate area), this battery delivers up to 30% more cold start performance than conventional models.
- Sulphate Stop: The special chemical formula drastically reduces crystal formation on the lead plates, increasing service life and reducing starting problems after downtime.
- Dry pre-charged (DC): The battery is supplied dry and is only activated when filled with acid, which keeps it storable and prevents ageing before first use.
- Vibration resistant: A robust glass fibre mat compresses the plates securely and protects against damage from vibrations, ideal for rough road surfaces or off-road use.
- Easy maintenance: The acid level can be checked at any time using the sealing plugs and corrected with distilled water if necessary.
- Durable casing: The battery container is heat-sealed, resistant to petrol and oil, and reliably protects against corrosion.

FAQs for Yuasa YB14-A2
Will this battery fit if I previously had a YB14L-A2?
No, this will not fit. The difference is the small letter "L". With the YB14-A2 the positive terminal is on the left. With the YB14L-A2 the positive terminal is on the right. Since the battery cables on the motorbike are usually quite short, it is often not possible to connect the wrong battery. Please check your old battery's terminal arrangement before purchasing.
How long should the battery rest after filling?
After filling the battery acid, allow the battery about 30 to 60 minutes ("outgassing"). During this time, the acid settles in the mat and between the plates, and the chemical reaction begins.
Do I need to charge the battery?
Yes. Although a "dry charged" battery already has a basic voltage (approx. 70-80%) after filling, a complete initial charge with a suitable 12V charger is mandatory for full performance and long service life.
What does "A2" mean in the designation?
The "A2" (and similar codes such as A1, B2) refers to the exact position of the vent hole and the shape of the terminal posts. For the YB14-A2, the vent is on the left (viewed from the positive terminal), and the terminals are usually flat posts with a hole. Ensure the vent hose does not get kinked.
