Yuasa Motorbike battery YT7B-BS 12V 6.8Ah (AGM maintenance-free)

The Yuasa YT7B-BS (often also referred to as YT7B-4) is an extremely compact and flat AGM battery. It was specially developed for light enduros and super sports bikes where every gram of weight and every millimetre of space counts. With a capacity of approx. 6.5 Ah (10h) or 6.8 Ah (20h) and a cold start current of approx. 110 A (EN), it provides an astonishing amount of power for its small size. It is the standard for popular models such as the Suzuki DR-Z 400 or the Triumph Daytona 675.

The favourite for Suzuki DR-Z & Triumph

The YT7B-BS is the first choice for riders of the Suzuki DR-Z 400 (E/S/SM models), as the battery box of this motorbike is extremely narrow. A standard battery (like the YTX7A-BS) would not fit here. Also, with the Triumph Daytona 675 (early model years) or the Yamaha TT 600 R, this special, flat battery type is used to create space for the rear shock absorber or air filter box.

FAQs about the Yuasa YT7B-BS

What is the difference to the YTX7A-BS?

Both batteries are equally long (150 mm) and equally high (93 mm). The key difference is the width.

• YTX7A-BS: 87 mm wide (standard for scooters/scooters).
• YT7B-BS: 65 mm wide (special flat for enduros/sport bikes). If you ride a Suzuki DR-Z 400, the thicker YTX7A-BS will not fit. You must absolutely use the flat YT7B-BS.

Is YT7B-4 the same as YT7B-BS?

Yes.

• YT7B-BS: Refers to the version with the acid pack supplied separately ("Bottle Supplied") – this is the standard in mail order.
• YT7B-4: Is often the designation for the factory-filled version or the code on the lid. Technically and in terms of dimensions they are absolutely identical.

Can I use this battery in my Ducati Panigale?

Some Ducati Panigale models (e.g. 1199/1299) mechanically use a battery of this size (150x65x93mm). However, the YT7B-BS is borderline weak for a 1200cc V2 engine. Here, an lithium-ion battery of the same size is often used as standard or as an accessory, which delivers significantly more starting current. Check the manual: if lead-acid is specified, the YT7B-BS is correct.

How long does this small battery last?

As the battery is very small and has little reserve capacity (6.8 Ah), it reacts sensitively to long periods of standstill (winter) or silent consumers (alarm system, clock). A good trickle charger ("maintainer") is almost compulsory for this type if the motorbike is left for more than 2-3 weeks to ensure it starts again in spring.
