The Yuasa YTX20L-BS (or YTX20L as factory-filled variant) is a robust standard AGM battery for heavy motorbikes, ATVs and water sports equipment. With a capacity of 18 Ah (10h) or 18.9 Ah (20h) and a cold cranking current of 270 A (EN), it provides a solid and reliable power supply for vehicles that need a lot of starting power, but do not necessarily require the high-performance peaks of the more expensive “H” series. The “L” denotes the special pole arrangement with the positive terminal on the right side.

The standard for Harley, Goldwing & Jet-Ski

The YTX20L-BS is the standard replacement battery for a wide range of Harley-Davidson models (Sportster, Dyna, Softail – note the year of manufacture!), older Honda Goldwing models (GL 1800), Triumph Rocket III and many Yamaha and Sea-Doo jet skis. It reliably provides the necessary voltage to safely start these vehicles.

What is the difference from the YTX20HL-BS?

The difference is the starting power (“Cold Cranking Amps”).

  • YTX20L-BS (your battery): Standard model with 270 A.
  • YTX20HL-BS (High Performance): Reinforced model with 310 A. The standard version is cheaper and is perfectly adequate for normal use and moderate climates. If you ride in extreme sub-zero temperatures or have a high-compression tuning engine, you should opt for the HL version.

What is the difference from the YTX20-BS (without L)?

The difference is the polarity.

  • YTX20-BS: Positive terminal is left.
  • YTX20L-BS (your battery): Positive terminal is right. Since battery cables on motorbikes are usually very short and rigid, the wrong battery often cannot be connected. Check the position of the terminals on your old battery before buying.

Does this battery fit in a jet ski?

Yes, the YTX20L-BS is one of the most frequently used batteries for jet skis (PWC) from Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Polaris. Thanks to AGM technology, it is leak-proof and can withstand “bouncing” on the waves. Good maintenance is particularly important in winter (removal and charging), as jet skis often have long periods of inactivity.
