The Yuasa YB14L-A2 is a powerful 12V lead-acid battery from the proven YuMicron series. With a capacity of 14 Ah, it was specially developed for motorbikes that require higher starting performance due to large engines or additional electrical consumers (e.g. heated grips, extra headlights). Typical areas of use are touring bikes and choppers from Yamaha (e.g. XJ, FJ), Suzuki (GSX) or Kawasaki. Thanks to the patented "Sulphate Stop" technology, the battery's service life is maximised by inhibiting harmful plate sulphation.

What is the difference to the YB14-A2 (without "L")?

The key difference is the pole arrangement. On the YB14L-A2, the positive terminal is on the right-hand side (L = polarity left/right swapped variation). On the YB14-A2, the positive terminal is on the left-hand side. The dimensions are identical. As the battery cables on the motorbike are usually very short, it is extremely important to choose the correct version.

Is the battery ready for immediate use?

No. As it is a dry pre-charged battery, it must be filled with battery acid (sulphuric acid, density 1.28) before first use. After filling and a rest period ("outgassing" approx. 30–60 min) the battery must be fully charged to reach its full capacity and service life.

How often do I need to top up water?

This depends on use and temperature. It is recommended to check the fluid level at least once a month or at every vehicle inspection. If required, top up only with distilled water (never acid!) up to the upper mark ("Upper Level").

Does the battery have a vent?

Yes, on the left side (when viewed from the front). Before installation, the red transport plug must be removed and the vent hose of the motorbike connected. Make sure that the hose is not pinched so that gases can escape.
