Yuasa Motorbike battery YT12B-BS 12V 10Ah (AGM maintenance-free)

The Yuasa YT12B-BS (often also referred to as YT12B-4) is a special AGM high-performance battery with a very slim design. It was primarily developed to fit into the narrow battery boxes of Ducati motorbikes and some Yamaha models, without sacrificing starting power. With a capacity of approx. 10 Ah (often specified as 10.5 Ah) and a strong cold start current of 210 A (EN), it reliably starts large-displacement two-cylinder engines.

The classic for Ducati & Yamaha

The YT12B-BS is the standard battery for almost all modern Ducati models (Monster, Hypermotard, Multistrada, Panigale – older model years) as well as for the Yamaha YZF-R1 (RN12/RN19) or the Yamaha Drag Star XVS 650. Its special feature is the "disc shape": it is as long and high as a normal battery, but much thinner. Anyone who tries to install a cheaper standard battery here will fail, as the battery box is too narrow.

FAQs about the Yuasa YT12B-BS

What is the difference to the YT12A-BS?

The dimensions are completely different, although the performance is similar.

• YT12B-BS (your battery): 69 mm wide, 130 mm high (Narrow & Tall).
• YT12A-BS: 87 mm wide, 105 mm high (Wide & Flat). They are not mechanically interchangeable. The YT12B only fits into the narrow shafts provided for this (e.g. Ducati).

What is the difference compared to the YTX12-BS?

The YTX12-BS is the "standard type" (e.g. for Kawasaki/Honda). It is 87 mm wide. The YT12B-BS is only 69 mm wide. If you ride a Ducati or Yamaha R1, the YTX12-BS won’t fit (it is too thick). You absolutely need the more expensive special size YT12B-BS.

My battery is called GT12B-4 or YT12B-4, is it the same?

Yes.

• YT12B-BS: Is the designation from Yuasa (BS = Bottle Supplied, acid included).
• YT12B-4: Is often the designation of the already filled original equipment battery.
• GT12B-4: Is the designation of other manufacturers (e.g. GS). Technically, all are identical (150x69x130 mm, AGM).
