The Yuasa YTZ14S (in the “WC” version for “Wet Charged”) is the absolute top model in the YTZ compact series. It currently offers the highest energy density in this case format. With a capacity of 11.2 Ah (10h) and an enormous cold starting current of 230 A (EN), it delivers maximum performance in the smallest of spaces. It is identical in construction to the YTZ12S, but has further optimised internal plates for more capacity and starting power. As it is factory-filled and sealed, it is regarded as the premium solution for powerful big bikes.

• Maximum energy density: Offers the highest performance (230 A starting current) in the compact size 150x87x110 mm and thus outperforms many larger standard batteries.

The powerhouse for super-naked & adventure bikes

The YTZ14S is the powerhouse for large-capacity motorbikes with little space under the seat. It is the original equipment for machines such as the Honda CB 1300, Yamaha FZ1 / FZ8, Yamaha V-Max 1700, KTM 1290 Super Duke / Super Adventure or the BMW R1200 GS (certain models/years as an alternative to the YTX14H). It was developed to safely start large engines and also supply modern on-board electronics (ABS, traction control, heated grips).

What is the difference to the YTZ12S?

That’s the big advantage of the YTZ series: The YTZ14S and the YTZ12S have exactly the same external dimensions (150 x 87 x 110 mm).

• YTZ12S: 11 Ah / 210 A.
• YTZ14S (your battery): 11.2 Ah / 230 A. The YTZ14S is the “Maximum Power Upgrade”. You can easily replace any YTZ12S with a YTZ14S for more reserves. It is only slightly heavier (due to more lead plate).

What is the difference to the YTX14-BS?

Despite a similar name (“14”), they are completely different in size.

• YTZ14S (High Perf.): Only 110 mm high (very compact).
• YTX14-BS (Standard): 145 mm high (very tall). The YTZ14S is 3.5 cm flatter! It has similar performance, but a completely different design. You can usually fit a YTZ14S into a YTX14 holder (must be underlaid), but never vice versa.

What does “WC” mean?

“WC” stands for “Wet Charged”. The battery was filled, charged and permanently sealed at the Yuasa factory under optimal conditions. This guarantees the highest quality and makes commissioning very easy for you: remove old battery, new one in, done.

How do I charge this battery?

As the packing density of the plates in the YTZ14S is extremely high, it is sensitive to thermal stress caused by incorrect charging. Use a high-quality microprocessor charger (e.g. CTEK, Optimate) that is specially designed for AGM motorcycle batteries. Avoid fast chargers with high current (> 2 amps).
