The Yuasa YBX5629 is a premium high-performance battery from the YBX5000 SHD series (Super Heavy Duty), developed for modern heavy commercial vehicles, coaches and large agricultural machinery. With a capacity of 185 Ah and an enormous cold-start current of 1200 A (EN), it represents the top class in the standard truck format (type B housing). Equipped with advanced XVR technology (Extreme Vibration Resistance) and a sealed SMF double lid, it is especially suitable for installation at the rear of the vehicle (end-of-frame) and is 100 % maintenance-free.

The standard for heavy trucks (XVR)

The YBX5629 corresponds to the widely used "Type B" housing (approx. 513 x 223 x 223 mm). It is the ideal upgrade for vehicles such as the Mercedes Actros, MAN TGX, Scania R/S, Volvo FH or DAF XF. Especially for newer trucks, where batteries are often mounted behind the rear axle (to create space for AdBlue tanks), the XVR technology of this battery is indispensable to prevent cracks in the housing or plate breakage due to vibrations.

What is the difference to the YBX3629?

The YBX3629 is the standard model ("Black Series"), often still with screw plugs for maintenance and standard vibration resistance (V2). The YBX5629 ("Silver Series") is the premium model: it is completely sealed (SMF), maintenance-free and offers the extremely high vibration resistance (XVR/V4) as well as more starting power (1200A vs. 1050A). For modern long-distance trucks, the YBX5629 is clearly the better choice.

Will this battery fit in my truck?

If your vehicle requires "Type B" size batteries (approx. 51 cm long, 22 cm wide, 22 cm high), then yes. This is the most common size for heavy trucks (180Ah - 225Ah class). Please check the width: There are narrower batteries (Type A, 189 mm wide, e.g. YBX5627), which should not be confused. The YBX5629 is the wide version (223 mm).

What does end-of-frame installation mean?

In many Euro 5/6 trucks, the batteries have been moved from the side frame to the rear (end of the frame). There, the suspension is stiffer and the vibrations ("whip effect") are much stronger. Regular batteries fail there quickly. The YBX5629 with XVR technology is specially built for this.

Is the battery suitable for tail lifts?

Yes. Thanks to the high capacity (185 Ah) and the SHD (Super Heavy Duty) design, it can cope very well with the loads caused by tail lifts in distribution operations.
