The Yuasa SWL+2450 (in some markets or batches also listed as a variant of the SWL2500 family) is a high-performance energy storage battery from the modern SWL+ (Plus) series. With a nominal capacity of 80 Ah (often classified higher depending on the discharge rate), this 12-volt block offers an extremely high power density for critical industrial applications.

It was specially developed to close the gap between the standard 75Ah batteries and the large 90Ah blocks or to replace older batteries with higher efficiency. Thanks to the Hybrid grid technology the SWL+2450 delivers maximum discharge currents (High Rate Discharge) and at the same time has a service life expectancy of 12+ years according to Eurobat standard.

Assembly & operating instructions

• Tightening torque: The M6 terminal screws should be tightened with approx. 4.8 Nm. Check the torque after installation and during maintenance to avoid contact resistance.
• Charging voltage: For standby operation (trickle charge), a voltage of 2.275 V/cell (±1%) at 20°C is recommended. This corresponds to 13.65 V for the entire block.
• Temperature: The service life specification (12+ years) refers to an ambient temperature of 20°C. Higher temperatures shorten the service life chemically (rule of thumb: halving of the service life for every 10°C temperature increase).
• Installation: In battery cabinets or on racks. Ensure adequate ventilation in accordance with EN 50272-2.

FAQs for Yuasa SWL+2450

What does the number "2450" mean?

The number refers to the power output in watts per block (often with a 10-minute discharge up to 9.6V). It is used to differentiate the performance classes within the SWL series. An SWL2450 therefore supplies more current for a short time than an SWL2250, even if the Ah capacity may be similar.

Can I mix this battery with an SWL2500?

Better not. Although the values (80-90Ah) are close to each other, different internal resistances and ageing conditions can lead to uneven load distribution in the string. Never mix different types or batches within a string. Always replace the entire string or use exactly the same type.

Is the battery suitable for horizontal installation?
