The Yuasa SWL+2250FR is the high-end safety variant of the powerful SWL+2250. It combines the enormous capacity of 86 Ah (C20) with a housing of the highest fire protection class (UL94 V-0).

This VRLA-AGM block is specially designed for critical infrastructures where both maximum power density and the strictest safety requirements apply. As part of the SWL+ series, it not only offers up to 40% more discharge power than standard batteries, but also an extremely long service life of 12+ years. It is the ideal upgrade for UPS systems previously equipped with standard 75Ah or 80Ah batteries (e.g. NPL78-12).

• FR safety housing (Flame Retardant): The housing and lid are made of flame-retardant ABS plastic in accordance with UL94 V-0. In the event of fire, the material self-extinguishes and prevents flaming dripping – a mandatory requirement for data centres and public buildings.

• Installation position: Possible standing or lying on the long side.

Can I use this battery instead of an NPL78-12FR?

Yes, this is a perfect upgrade. The NPL78-12FR is a standard long-life model (10 years, ~78Ah). The SWL+2250FR has the same dimensions, but offers 86Ah (+10% capacity), a higher high current output and a longer service life (12+ years). Just check if your charger can charge the slightly increased capacity.

How can I recognise the FR version?

Look for the "FR" in the name on the nameplate and the reference to "UL94 V-0". Visually, Yuasa FR batteries are often distinguished by a grey housing (as opposed to the black standard housing), but this can vary depending on the production batch. The nameplate is the deciding factor.

What happens if I install a non-FR battery in an FR string?

This jeopardises the insurance cover of the entire system. A single block with a standard housing (UL94 HB) cancels the fire protection certification of the whole rack. Always replace batteries in sensitive areas only with the correct FR type.
