The Yuasa SWL+2250 is one of the most powerful 12V models in the SWL+ Series. With a remarkable capacity of 86 Ah (C20), this battery offers an extremely high energy density with consistently compact dimensions.

This VRLA-AGM block was developed to replace older standard batteries in the 75-80Ah class (such as the NPL78-12) and at the same time to offer significantly more power and a longer service life. Thanks to the advanced plate technology and the Eurobat "Very Long Life" classification, the SWL+2250 is the ideal solution for demanding UPS systems where every centimetre of footprint and every year of service life counts.

The SWL+2250 is often mechanically compatible with the widely used NPL78-12 or SWL2500 (depending on year and exact dimensions). The key advantage when switching to the SWL+2250 is the power density: you get significantly more kilowatts on the same footprint. Assembly & operating instructions

• Weight warning: With approx. 27.5 kg this block is very heavy. When mounting on upper rack levels, pay attention to the shelf load and use lifting aids.
• Connection: The M6 terminal bolts must be tightened to 4.8 Nm. Check the torque after the first weeks of operation, as lead can settle slightly under pressure ("cold flow").
• Charging voltage: Trickle charge (float) at 2.275 V/cell (±1%) at 20°C.
• Temperature: The optimum life is achieved at 20°C. Permanently higher temperatures (e.g. 30°C) chemically halve the service life of VRLA batteries.

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL+2250

Can I use the SWL+2250 as a replacement for the NPL78-12?

Yes, in most cases. The dimensions (length approx. 380mm, width 166mm) are industry standard. However, the SWL+2250 offers 86 Ah instead of 78 Ah and a longer service life (12+ years vs. 10 years). Just check that your charger is strong enough to recharge the slightly higher capacity in the time required (usually not a problem).

Is the SWL+2250 also available in "FR" (flame retardant)?

Yes. Like almost all batteries in the SWL+ series, the 2250 is often available as SWL+2250FR. When using the battery in public buildings or sensitive IT environments, you should expressly order the FR version (UL94 V-0).

Is this battery suitable for motorhomes?

Conditionally, but not ideal. The SWL+ series is a pure standby battery (emergency power). It delivers extremely high current for a very short period. However, in a motorhome the battery is discharged slowly and recharged daily (cyclic operation). For this purpose, batteries of the Yuasa REC, NPC or special gel/LiFePO4 batteries are more economical and durable.
