Yuasa SWL+2000FR Industrial VRLA battery - 12V / 57.6Ah (Flame Retardant / High Rate)

Description

Product information

The Yuasa SWL+2000FR is the safety-optimised version of the SWL+ high-performance block. It combines the specific capacity of 57.6 Ah with the advanced SWL-Plus technology for high discharge currents and a housing with the highest fire protection class (UL94 V-0).

This 12-volt battery is the first choice for critical UPS applications (Uninterruptible Power Supply) in data centres and public facilities. It bridges the gap between the smaller 40Ah blocks and the large 70Ah models and offers extremely high power density with a service life expectancy of 12+ years.

Highlights at a glance

  • FR safety housing (Flame Retardant): The housing is made from flame-retardant ABS plastic in accordance with the standard UL94 V-0. This is a mandatory requirement in many modern tenders for server rooms and emergency lighting systems to prevent the spread of fire.
  • Performance upgrade (SWL+): The model designation "2000" stands for the increased power output (watts per block) compared to older models (e.g. SWL1800). Despite the same capacity of 57.6 Ah this block supplies more energy for a short time to absorb voltage peaks.
  • Eurobat "Very Long Life": Classified for a service life of 10 to 12 years (or 12+ years according to Eurobat 2015). This guarantees low operating costs (TCO) and long replacement intervals.
  • Maintenance-free VRLA-AGM technology: Thanks to the recombination technology (>99% efficiency) and electrolyte bound in glass fibre, the battery is leak-proof and never needs to be topped up with water.
  • Hybrid grid plates: The use of a special lead-calcium-tin alloy (commonly referred to as HT Element X) reduces internal corrosion and self-discharge, which improves shelf life and service life even under demanding float charge conditions.

Areas of application

The SWL+2000FR is designed for systems with high safety requirements:

  • Data centres / data centers: Where minimising the fire load is a priority.
  • UPS systems: As an upgrade for older 55-60Ah batteries.
  • Telecommunication: In switching centres and containers.
  • Safety lighting: According to EN 50171 / VDE 0108.
  • Switchgear: In power supply systems.

Assembly & safety

  • Tightening torque: The M6 terminal bolts must be tightened to approx. 4.8 Nm. Tightening too loosely will lead to contact resistance and heat build-up, tightening too tightly can destroy the lead threads.
  • Mounting position: The battery can be mounted upright or on its side (but not permanently upside down).
  • Ventilation: Battery rooms must be ventilated in accordance with EN 50272-2.
  • Charging voltage: 2.275 V/cell ±1% at 20°C (13.65 V block voltage).

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL+2000FR

Does the SWL+2000FR replace the old SWL1800FR?

Yes. The SWL+2000FR is the direct, more powerful successor model. The dimensions (224 x 135 x 207 mm) are generally identical, so it fits into the same shelves or cabinets. You gain additional power reserve (higher watt emission possible) and service life.

What is the difference between 57.6 Ah and the designation "2000"?

This is a common mix-up:

  • 57.6 Ah: Is the capacity (how much current flows over a long period of time, e.g. 10 or 20 hours).
  • 2000: Refers to the power (watts), which the block can provide for the UPS for a short period (e.g. for 10 minutes). The SWL+2000 delivers more here than a standard 57Ah battery.

How do I recognise if my old battery was "FR"?

Look at the nameplate. It should state "FR" or "UL94 V-0". Often (but not always) FR housings at Yuasa are grey rather than black. If your system is located in a public building or data centre, it is highly likely that you must use FR batteries again.
