The Yuasa SWL+1950 (often listed as SWL+1950FR) is a technological leap in the VRLA class. As part of the new SWL+ Series replaces or supplements models in the standard SWL range (such as the SWL1850) and offers a high level of reliability at identical dimensions significantly higher performance.
With a nominal capacity of 74 Ah (C20) and an extremely high energy density, this 12-volt block is specially designed for modern UPS systems that need to realise maximum bridging times in the smallest of spaces. Thanks to the use of the new Hybrid pure lead technology and the patented HT Element X Alloy the SWL+1950 achieves a service life expectancy of up to 15 years.

- SWL+ performance upgrade (74 Ah): This battery delivers more energy in the same form factor as older 65-70Ah blocks (e.g. SWL1850). You can achieve longer runtimes without having to modify your battery cabinets.
- Hybrid pure lead technology: The mixture of primary pure lead and advanced alloys reduces the internal resistance and massively improves the corrosion resistance of the grid plates.
- HT Element X Alloy™: An exclusive alloy from GS Yuasa that minimises grid corrosion (the main cause of battery ageing) and slows down water loss. This allows operation even at slightly higher temperatures (e.g. 25°C) without immediately shortening the service life drastically.
- Eurobat "Very Long Life": Classified for a service life of 12+ years. Under optimum conditions, the design life is even up to 15 years.
- Maximum energy density: Ideal for data centres where the price per square metre of floor space is high. You get more kilowatts per square metre (kW/m²).
- Ultra-fast recharging: Thanks to the low impedance and the pure lead structure, the battery absorbs charge more quickly, which increases the availability of the UPS after a failure (repeated outage).
Assembly & Maintenance
- Tightening torque: The M6 terminal screws should be used with approx. 4.8 Nm must be tightened. Check the torque as part of the annual maintenance.
- Charging voltage: The float charge voltage is 2.275 V/cell (13.65 V per block) at 20°C.
- Temperature: Thanks to the HT Element X technology, the battery is more tolerant of temperatures up to 25°C, but an ambient temperature of 20°C is recommended for maximum service life (15 years).

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL+1950
Will the SWL+1950 fit in my cabinet if I previously had SWL1850?
Yes. The dimensions (350 x 166 x 174 mm) are the industrial standard for this class. You can use the SWL+1950 as a "drop-in replacement" and immediately benefit from the higher capacity (74Ah instead of 66Ah) and longer service life.
What does "hybrid pure lead" mean?
Classic batteries use lead-calcium-tin grids. Pure lead batteries (Thin Plate Pure Lead) are extremely powerful, but often more expensive and more sensitive when charging. The Hybrid technology of the SWL+ series combines the robustness of standard alloy (in the negative plate) with the performance of pure lead (in the positive plate) to offer the best of both worlds: High performance and long life at moderate cost.
Is the housing always flame retardant?
The SWL+ series is often used as a standard FR (Flame Retardant / UL94 V-0) as it is intended for critical infrastructures (data centres). Look for the imprint "FR" or the grey cover/case colour (depending on the batch) to be sure.
