The Yuasa SWL+1200FR is the safety-optimised version of the proven SWL+ high-performance battery. The abbreviation "FR" stands for Flame Retardant (flame retardant). This 12V block not only offers the extremely high energy density and longevity of the SWL+ series (40.6 Ah), but also has a housing of the highest fire protection class (UL94 V-0).
This makes this battery the mandatory choice for installations in areas with increased safety requirements, such as public buildings, airports, hospitals or data centres, where fire safety regulations must be strictly adhered to. It combines maximum reliability (Very Long Life) with maximum building protection.

- Standard (HB): Burns slowly, but keeps burning.
- FR (V-0): Must extinguish within 10 seconds in the vertical burn test; no burning dripping permitted. In many tenders for data centres, telecommunications equipment and emergency lighting systems in escape routes, the use of batteries with UL94 V-0 housing is now mandatory to ensure insurance cover and operating authorisation.

FAQs about the Yuasa SWL+1200FR
Can I mix "FR" batteries with normal batteries?
Technically yes, safety-wise no. Electrically, the SWL+1200 and SWL+1200FR are identical. However, if you replace a single block in a string consisting of FR batteries with a standard battery, you lose the fire protection certification of the system for the entire string ("chain"). In addition, batteries should always be replaced as a batch (same age).
How can I recognise the FR version visually?
Yuasa usually marks the FR versions with a grey cover/housing (as opposed to the often black standard housing) or by a distinct imprint "FR" or "UL94 V-0" on the type plate.
Is the SWL+1200FR more expensive than the standard version?
Yes, slightly. The special plastic granulate for the UL94 V-0 housing is more expensive to manufacture. However, the extra cost is negligible compared to the damage that a battery fire could cause in a data centre.
