Yuasa REC80-12 Cyclic with 12 V and 80 Ah
Description
Product information
The Yuasa REC80-12 is a cycle-resistant 12V/80Ah VRLA industrial battery. It is characterised by its long cycle life, low impedance and stable power output in a robust design. It is ideal for cyclic operation in mobile applications, cleaning machines, rehabilitation and medical technology, as a photovoltaic buffer as well as in measurement and control technology and UPS systems.
Highlights at a glance
- Reliable capacity: 80 Ah with 20-hour discharge up to 10.5 V, 74 Ah with 10-hour discharge up to 10.8 V.
- High current carrying capacity: Maximum 480 A for 1 second and 310 A for 1 minute.
- Low impedance: 4.7 mΩ at 1 kHz for stable load performance.
- Simple installation: M6 female threaded connection, recommended tightening torque 3.9 to 5.4 Nm.
- Low self-discharge: About 3 percent per month at 20 °C.
Maximum performance for demanding cyclic applications
The REC80-12 was designed for frequent charge and discharge cycles. Thanks to AGM technology and valve-regulated oxygen recombination, it is particularly low-maintenance and ensures a reliable energy supply, even with dynamic load profiles. Its low impedance enables high peak currents and therefore stable power supply to the consumers.
Efficiency meets long service life
For standby operation, a float charge voltage of 13.65 V ±1 percent per block is recommended, with temperature compensation of minus 3 mV per cell and degree Celsius. For cyclic or boost charging, 14.52 V ±3 percent per block is recommended, also with compensation of minus 4 mV per cell and degree Celsius.
The recommended current limit for floating operation and for cyclic charging is 20 A. The longevity in use is underlined by the EUROBAT classification General Purpose 6 to 9 years and a Yuasa design life specification of 7 years at 20 °C.
Technology for flexible application possibilities
The operating temperature range includes discharge from minus 15 °C to plus 40 °C, charging from 0 °C to plus 40 °C, and storage from minus 15 °C to plus 50 °C. Each cell is equipped with a low-pressure release valve. VRLA batteries release hydrogen. Do not operate the battery in gas-tight housings and ensure sufficient ventilation.

FAQ about the Yuasa REC80-12I industrial battery
What is the REC80-12I and what is it suitable for?
The REC80-12I is a 12 V VRLA-AGM cyclic battery with a capacity of 80 Ah (at 20-hour rate). It is specially designed for applications that require frequent charging and discharging. These include, among others, electromobility, cleaning machines, golf trolleys and various applications in the field of renewable energies.
How cycle-resistant is the REC80-12I?
The REC80-12I provides cycle resistance of 300 cycles at 100 percent depth of discharge (DoD) down to a residual capacity of 80 percent. At 75 percent DoD it is 500 cycles, at 50 percent DoD 600 cycles and at 25 percent DoD even 1,400 cycles.
Is the REC80-12I maintenance-free and low-gassing?
Yes, thanks to the valve-regulated AGM design with almost complete oxygen recombination. Each cell is also equipped with a low-pressure relief valve.
Can the battery be operated in a closed housing?
No, VRLA batteries can release hydrogen gas. Therefore, operation in hermetically sealed housings is not permitted. It must always be ensured that adequate ventilation is provided.
Can I operate several batteries in series or parallel?
In principle yes. Observe the Yuasa instructions regarding installation, commissioning and maintenance. Select identical cable routes per string and suitable fusing, and ensure sufficient ventilation.
How does REC differ from standby series such as NPL or SWL?
REC is specially designed for cyclic resistance and achieves a significantly longer service life in cyclic operation than conventional VRLA batteries. The NPL and SWL series, on the other hand, are designed primarily for standby applications with high current requirements and meet the EUROBAT Long Life classification for standby operation.
