The Yuasa REC36-12 is a cycle-resistant VRLA industrial battery with 12 volts and 36 Ah (C20). It combines a high cycle lifetime with reliable power delivery and a compact design. Maximum performance for demanding cyclic applications

The REC36-12 is designed for high cyclic stress. Thanks to AGM technology and valve-regulated oxygen recombination, it delivers stable voltage even under varying load profiles. This makes it a reliable choice for drive and supply applications requiring regular charge and discharge cycles.

Efficiency meets long service life

A float charging voltage of 13.65 V ±1 percent per block applies for standby operation, with temperature compensation of minus 3 mV per cell and degree Celsius. For cyclic or boost charging 14.52 V ±3 percent per block is intended, with compensation of minus 4 mV per cell and degree Celsius. 

The recommended current limit is 9 A for both float operation and cyclic charging. The EUROBAT classification General Purpose 6 to 9 years and a Yuasa Design Life specification of 7 years at 20 °C underline the endurance in use.

Technology for flexible application possibilities

The operating temperature range covers discharge from minus 15 °C to plus 40 °C, charging from 0 °C to plus 40 °C, and storage from minus 15 °C to plus 50 °C. Each cell is equipped with a low pressure relief valve. VRLA batteries emit hydrogen, so adequate ventilation must be ensured and use in gas-tight housings avoided.

For which applications is the REC36-12I battery suitable?

For cyclic applications such as rehabilitation and mobility aids, drive and supply systems, PV buffering, measurement and control technology as well as UPS when regular charge and discharge cycles are required. The REC series offers a higher number of cycles and rapid recovery after deep discharge compared to standard VRLA.

How is the battery installed?

Mounting is possible in any position except permanently upside down. The electrical connection is made via M5 threaded connections. Please observe a tightening torque of 2 to 3 Nm, correct polarity and adequate ventilation.

Are there any special safety instructions?

Each cell is fitted with a low pressure relief valve. VRLA batteries must not be operated in gas-tight enclosures. At the end of their service life, the battery must be recycled according to local and national regulations.

How cycle-resistant is the battery?

Typical number of cycles to 80 percent remaining capacity: 300 cycles at 100 percent DoD, 500 at 75 percent DoD, 600 at 50 percent DoD, 1400 at 25 percent DoD.

How high is the self-discharge and what does that mean for storage?

Is the REC36-12I suitable for UPS standby long-term operation or are there more suitable series?

It can be used for continuous UPS standby operation, but is optimised for cyclic use. For pure standby operation with long service life, Yuasa recommends the NPL series with EUROBAT 10 to 12 years.
