Yuasa Lead-acid battery with 6V and 3Ah - NP3-6
Description
Product information
The Yuasa NP3-6 is a compact and reliable lead-acid battery with 6 volts and 3 Ah capacity. Developed for industrial applications, it impresses with its robust construction, flexible installation options and long service life. Whether in emergency power systems, security technology or mobile devices, this VRLA battery provides stable power supply in a minimum of space.
Highlights at a glance
- Reliable capacity: 3 Ah at 6 V, ideal for smaller energy applications.
- Compact format: At just 134 × 34 × 64 mm, optimal for use where space is restricted.
- High flexibility: Installation possible up to 90° tilt from the upright position.
- Safe in operation: Low-pressure vent valves for gas pressure regulation.
- Service life: Up to 5 years in accordance with EUROBAT classification "Standard Commercial".
- Low maintenance: Valve-regulated VRLA technology with low self-discharge.
Compact performance for versatile applications
The Yuasa NP3-6 belongs to the NP series of valve-regulated lead-acid batteries (VRLA) and is especially suitable for applications with limited space. Thanks to the constant output voltage and low self-discharge of only about 3% per month at 20°C, the battery remains ready for use even after extended periods of inactivity.
Technical stability and long service life
The NP3-6 offers a service life of up to 5 years (EUROBAT classification: "Standard Commercial"). Its stable float charge voltage is 6.825 V (±1%) per block at 20°C. For cyclic operation, a voltage of 7.26 V (±3%) is recommended. Thanks to its robust ABS plastic design, the battery meets high safety standards. A flame-retardant housing option according to UL94:V0 is available on request.
Flexible installation and easy handling
The battery can be installed and operated up to 90° from the upright position (not permanently upside down). Faston plug terminals (4.7 mm / 6.35 mm) enable quick and secure installation.
Each cell is equipped with a low-pressure vent valve for safe and low-maintenance operation, which automatically equalises the gas pressure. Yuasa VRLA batteries comply, among other things, with ISO 9001 standards (quality management) and are recyclable in accordance with applicable regulations.

FAQs about the Yuasa NP3-6 lead-acid battery 6V 3Ah
What actual capacity and energy does it deliver?
The NP3-6 delivers a capacity of 3 Ah at a 20-hour discharge rate, equivalent to 18 Wh nominal energy. The actual available capacity depends on charge level and age-related degradation.
How many charge cycles does the NP3-6 withstand?
For cyclic use (regular charge/discharge cycles), service life under optimal conditions exceeds 1,000 cycles, depending on average depth of discharge.
How high is self-discharge during storage?
The NP3-6 has a self-discharge rate of approx. 3% per month at room temperature. It can be stored for up to 12 months provided it remains charged and is regularly topped up ("top charge") to prevent performance loss from sulphation.
How should it be charged – float or cyclic mode?
- Float charging voltage: 2.275 V/cell (approx. 13.65 V total for 6 V batteries), ideal for standby use.
- Cyclic charging: is usually performed at 2.35–2.47 V/cell.
- Recommendation: Use a 2-stage CI-CV charging system or a suitable AGM/UPS charger; charging cut-off should be at approx. 0.25 C.
If stored for more than a month, a full "top charge" at 2.40 V/cell for 15–24 hours is recommended.
What happens in deep discharge or with the wrong voltage?
The NP3-6 can handle occasional deep discharges and will regenerate if properly recharged. However, the cut-off discharge voltage should ideally not drop below 1.75 V/cell (≈ 10.5 V per 6 V battery). Repeated deep discharges or permanent operation at lower voltages will permanently reduce service life and capacity.
Can several NP3-6s be connected in parallel or in series, e.g. for higher voltage or capacity?
Yes, NP3-6s can be connected in parallel provided all cells come from the same batch and assembly. Mixing of different ages or capacities is not recommended, as charge equalisation cannot be guaranteed and uneven loading may occur.
