Yuasa Lead-acid battery with 12V and 38Ah - NPC38-12I
Description
Product information
The Yuasa NPC38-12I is a high-performance, valve-regulated lead-acid battery (VRLA) with 12 V nominal voltage and 38 Ah capacity, specially developed for cyclic applications. Thanks to its robust AGM technology, high cycle durability and excellent peak current load capacity, it is ideal for electric vehicles, cleaning machines, mobile power supply and other applications that require frequent charge and discharge cycles.
Highlights at a glance
- High capacity: 38 Ah (20h) / 35.2 Ah (10h) for long-lasting power supply
- Cycle resistant: Up to 1,400 charge/discharge cycles (at 25% DOD)
- Strong peak load: Maximum discharge current up to 500 A (1 second)
- Maintenance-free: AGM technology with gas recombination of over 99%
- Flexible installation: Female thread or bolt connections (M5) with 2.5 Nm tightening torque
Cyclic high performance for demanding applications
The NPC38-12I is optimised for repeated charge and discharge cycles and impresses with a long service life even with intensive use. Depending on the depth of discharge, the battery achieves:
- 1,400 cycles at 25% depth of discharge (DOD)
- 600 cycles at 50% DOD
- 500 cycles at 75% DOD
- 300 cycles at 100% DOD
With a peak current output of up to 500 A (1 second) and 380 A (1 minute), it offers top performance even during short-term peak loads.
Robust technology with safe operation
The maintenance-free AGM construction (Absorbent Glass Mat) completely binds the electrolyte in the separator and ensures a gas-tight seal with self-closing safety valves. With a self-discharge rate of only around 3% per month, the NPC38-12I is also suitable for longer standby phases.
The robust housing is made of ABS plastic (UL94:HB) and is optionally available in a flame-retardant version (UL94:V0). The M5 connectors ensure a secure, vibration-resistant installation.

FAQs about the Yuasa lead-acid battery with 12V and 38Ah
What is the NPC38-12I designed for?
The NPC38-12I is a 12 V VRLA-AGM battery with 38 Ah, optimised for cyclic applications such as mobility, golf trolleys, cleaning machines and renewable energies. It offers higher cycle durability than standard VRLA batteries.
How many charge cycles are realistic?
Up to 300 cycles at 100% DoD, 500 cycles at 75% DoD, 600 cycles at 50% DoD and around 1400 cycles at 25% DoD, in each case up to 80% remaining capacity.
Which charging voltages and currents should be observed?
Trickle charge at 20 °C: 13.65 V per block. Cyclic charge at 20 °C: 14.5 V per block. Temperature compensation: maintenance approx. -3 mV/°C/cell, cyclic approx. -4 mV/°C/cell. Maximum cyclic charging currents up to 9.5 A.
Is the battery maintenance-free and position independent?
Yes, as a VRLA-AGM it is practically maintenance-free. It can be installed and operated up to 90° from the upright position. Permanent overhead installation is not intended.
What is the general difference between NPC and NP or NPL?
NPC is designed for cycle durability and achieves a significantly higher number of cycles compared to standard VRLA. NP is the universal standby series with about 3 to 5 years EUROBAT class, NPL is the long-life standby series with 10 to 12 years.
