FAQs about Yuasa REC1412 lead-acid battery

For which applications is the battery optimised?

It is a VRLA (AGM) battery, specially developed for cyclic applications such as electric wheelchairs, golf trolleys, photovoltaic storage, mobile pumps, robotics, medical devices and UPS systems.

What is the cycle durability of the battery?

Thanks to lead-calcium grid and AGM technology, it offers double the number of cycles compared to standard VRLA batteries: e.g. approx. 300 cycles at 100% deep discharge or up to approx. 1,400 cycles at 25% DoD.

Which charging characteristics are recommended?

  • Float/standby charging: 13.65 V per unit (2.275 V/cell) ±1 %
  • Cyclic/boost charging: 14.52 V per unit (2.42 V/cell) ±3 %
  • Recommended charging current limit: max. 3.25 A

What about safety and construction?

The housing is made of impact-resistant ABS (UL94 HB, FR version optional V0), valve-controlled with almost 100% gas recombination and low-pressure relief valves. The battery releases hydrogen during charging – do not install in airtight containers.

How long is the battery expected to last?

The battery is developed for high cycle durability, not for a certain calendar lifetime. Operation occurs within -15 °C to +45 °C (charging, discharging, storage). The expected number of cycles is 600 cycles at 50% DoD, 1,400 cycles at 25% DoD.

It is ideal as a main power supply for electric vehicles such as wheelchairs and golf caddies, as well as for use in solar systems, telecommunications systems and mobile measuring devices. The battery also holds VdS approval, making it ideal for safety-critical applications such as fire and intruder alarm systems. What does "cycle-resistant" mean?A cycle-resistant battery is specially designed to withstand a high number of charge and discharge cycles without significant loss of capacity or service life. This sets it apart from conventional lead-acid batteries, which are more suited for standby operation. How do I charge the battery correctly? We recommend using a charger designed for AGM batteries with a capacity of 50 Ah. Observe the charging voltages recommended by the manufacturer: 13.6 V to 13.8 V for float charging (standby mode) and 14.4 V to 14.7 V for cycle charging (boost mode). Excessive charging current can shorten the battery's service life..How long does the 6FM50DX battery last? The battery's life expectancy is up to 10 years at 20 °C in design life. However, the actual service life depends greatly on the individual operating conditions, the depth of discharge and the ambient temperature.

This HF Series battery is a high-current type specifically designed for demanding standby operation. Equipped with maintenance-free AGM technology, this battery provides an extremely reliable power supply for critical applications that require high performance in a short time, such as in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).Highlights at a glanceHigh current capability: Optimised for high discharge currents, ideal for powerful UPS systems and other critical loads.Long service life: Designed for a service life of up to 5 years in standby mode (float) at 20 °C.Reliable capacity: 5 Ah at 12 V for secure power supply with a small footprint.Maintenance-free: Fully sealed AGM technology with efficient gas recombination makes maintenance unnecessary.Flexible mounting: Operation is possible in all positions, except permanent use upside down.Tested quality: Manufactured to the highest quality standards, ideal for use in safety-relevant devices.Powerful performance for safety-critical applicationsThe Vision CP1250HF2 delivers a nominal capacity of 5 Ah in a 20-hour discharge. Its particular strength lies in its ability to deliver very high currents for short periods of time. This makes it destined for use in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) that have to supply high loads when starting up. Its design for standby parallel operation ensures that it provides full power immediately in the event of a power failure.Robust technology for demanding environmentsThanks to the VRLA technology (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) with an electrolyte bound in glass fibre fleece (AGM system), the CP1250HF2 is completely maintenance-free and leak-proof. The battery features self-regulating safety valves that ensure safe pressure equalisation in the event of overcharging. The low self-discharge of less than 3% per month at 20°C enables long-term storage. The robust housing made of impact-resistant ABS plastic is available on request also in a flame-retardant version according to UL94:V0.Features ModelVision CP1250HF2 Battery typeVRLA AGM (high current) Nominal voltage (V)12 Capacity (Ah)5 (at 20h rate) Maximum discharge current75A (for 5 seconds) Charging voltage (float charge)13.5V - 13.8V Charging voltage (cyclic operation)14.4V - 15.0V Operating temperature (°C)Charge: 0 ~ 40 / Discharge: -20 ~ 50 Storage temperature (°C)-20 ~ 40 Service lifeup to 5 years (EUROBAT: Standard Commercial) Dimensions (L/W/H, mm)90 x 70 x 107 Weight (kg)approx. 1.75 ConnectionFaston 250 (6.35 mm) CertificationsISO9001, ISO14001, CE, UL  FAQs about the Vision CP1250HF2 lead-acid batteryFor which applications is the CP1250HF2 suitable? The battery is ideal for demanding standby applications with high power requirements:Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)Data centres and telecommunication systemsSafety lighting and emergency lighting systemsFire alarm systems (FAS) and intruder alarm systems (IAS)Medical and clinical devicesWhat does the designation "HF" and "high current capability" mean? The designation "HF" for Vision batteries stands for "High Rate" or high current. These batteries are constructed with thinner lead plates and a larger active surface, resulting in reduced internal resistance. This allows them to deliver significantly higher currents for short periods than standard batteries of the same capacity, which is crucial for starting motors or operating UPS systems. What is the difference compared to a CP1250A standard battery?Although both have the same capacity and size, the CP1250HF2 is specially optimised for high power delivery. The standard battery CP1250A is an all-purpose type. The HF type is the first choice when maximum power output is required in the first few minutes of a power failure, as is the case in UPS systems. What is the correct charging voltage for this battery? For maximum service life in standby operation, the float charge voltage at 20 °C should be between 13.5 V and 13.8 V (2.25 V to 2.30 V per cell). Temperature compensation is recommended for optimal battery maintenance. Is the battery maintenance-free?Yes, thanks to sealed AGM technology, the battery is completely maintenance-free. There is no need to top up with water, and it can be safely operated in devices and indoors. Can I use this battery for an electric scooter?Although the battery would technically work, it is not ideal for this purpose. It is optimised for standby operation. For electric scooters that require daily charge and discharge cycles, we recommend cycle-resistant batteries (recognisable by "DX" on Vision), as these achieve a significantly longer service life in cyclic operation.
