What is the difference to the YBX5096?

The YBX5096 is a conventional wet battery for vehicles without start-stop. The YBX7096 is an EFB battery for vehicles with start-stop.

• If your car has start-stop: Always choose the YBX7096. The YBX5096 would not withstand the demands.
• If your car does not have start-stop: You can use the YBX5096, but the YBX7096 would be a long-lasting upgrade.

Can I fit this battery instead of an AGM battery (e.g. YBX9096)?

No. If your vehicle was originally equipped with an AGM battery (often on BMW, Mercedes or VW with recuperation), you must install another AGM battery (e.g. Yuasa YBX9096). EFB batteries do not perform as well as AGM batteries in recuperation and may cause error messages.

Will this battery fit my VW Passat / Tiguan?

Yes, very likely. The L3 case (278 mm length) is standard in the VW Group's diesel mid-size class. Please briefly check the length of your old battery and if "EFB" is stated on the label.

Do I need to register the battery?

Yes. As almost all vehicles that need this battery have a battery management system (BMS), you should inform the vehicle of the battery replacement (coding/registration) to maximise the service life of the new battery and avoid start-stop problems.
