Yuasa EFB Start-Stop battery YBX7014 12V 65Ah 620A (YBX7000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX7014 is a specialised EFB battery (Enhanced Flooded Battery) from the YBX7000 series, developed for Asian vehicles with start-stop technology. It is the technical counterpart to the popular YBX7005, but with reverse pole arrangement (positive pole left). With 65 Ah capacity and 620 A cold start current (EN), it meets the JIS specification "Q-85R". Thanks to the use of lithium-carbon additives, it offers extremely high charge acceptance and cycle stability to reliably cope with the frequent starting processes of modern fuel-saving engines.
Highlights at a glance
- JIS format (Q-85R / D23R): Custom-fit housing for Asian start-stop vehicles that require the positive terminal on the left side (type Q-85R).
- Start-Stop Ready: Specially developed for the high loads caused by automatic engine shutdowns; offers approx. 270,000 starts.
- Pole arrangement 1: The positive pole is located left, which is required for certain models of Subaru, Toyota or Korean imports.
- High charge acceptance: Thanks to nano-carbon/lithium technology, the battery absorbs current extremely quickly (+170% compared to standard batteries), allowing it to become fully charged again quickly during short driving phases.
- Maintenance-free: The sealed tilting double lid prevents acid leakage and water loss (SMF).
- OE quality: Meets the strict requirements of Asian vehicle manufacturers for micro-hybrid vehicles.
The specialist for Asian start-stop models (Left)
The YBX7014 is needed if your vehicle requires a "Q-85" battery, but the connection cables are designed for a battery with the positive pole on the left side (Q-85R). This is the case with certain model variants or imported vehicles (e.g. Subaru Forester, XV or special Mitsubishi/Hyundai models). It offers the necessary EFB technology so that the i-Stop / ISG system works permanently.

FAQs for Yuasa YBX7014
What is the difference compared to the YBX7005?
The YBX7014 and YBX7005 are technically identical (both Q-85 EFB, 65Ah). The only difference is the polarity:
- YBX7005: Positive pole right (standard Q-85).
- YBX7014: Positive pole left (Exotic Q-85R). As the vehicle cables are usually very short, only the mechanically correct version fits.
Can I use this battery instead of a YBX5014?
Yes, this is possible and even an upgrade. The YBX5014 is the standard wet battery (without start-stop) with the same size and polarity. If you install the YBX7014 (EFB) in a vehicle without start-stop, you benefit from a longer service life. The reverse (YBX5014 in a start-stop car) is not allowed, as the standard battery would fail quickly.
What does "Q-85R" mean?
"Q-85" is the battery type code according to Japanese standard (JIS) for start-stop batteries of size D23. The appended "R" often stands for "Right" in Asia (which sometimes means a different pole view), in the European translation context for batteries (as with Yuasa) the YBX7014 designates the variant with pole arrangement 1 (Left), while the standard YBX7005 has pole arrangement 0 (Right).
Does the battery need to be registered?
Yes. If your vehicle has a battery management system (BMS) (almost always the case for start-stop), you should inform the sensor that a new battery has been installed, so that the charging strategy is reset.
