The Yuasa YBX3642 is a compact and powerful 12V starter battery from the YBX3000 SHD series (Super Heavy Duty), developed for commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery and construction site vehicles. With a capacity of 110 Ah and an exceptionally high cold-start current of 925 A (EN), it offers maximum starting power in a limited space. Is this a car or lorry battery?

This is primarily a commercial vehicle battery (SHD = Super Heavy Duty). It is designed for lorries, tractors and construction machinery. Due to its compact dimensions, it theoretically fits into some very large SUVs, but its height (232 mm) and mounting type (no base bar) make it generally unsuitable for normal cars.

What does the V2 vibration resistance mean?

V2 is a standard class for vibration resistance. Batteries in lorries and tractors are exposed to severe vibrations. A V2 battery is structurally reinforced so that plate fractures and internal short circuits caused by vibrations are prevented. Standard car batteries would quickly fail in these vehicles.

Does this battery have a base bar?

No, the YBX3642 has the base bar "N". This means it does not have a protruding edge at the bottom. It is usually held in the vehicle by a metal frame or bracket that grips over the lid or the housing.

Do I need to top up with water?

In normal operation, the battery is maintenance-free. However, as it is hybrid technology for professional use, it has plugs. With very intensive use or older alternators with high charging voltage, it may be advisable to check the fluid level annually and top up with distilled water if necessary, to maximise the service life.
