The Yuasa YBX5100 is a premium starter battery from the YBX5000 Silver High Performance SMF series, specially developed for vehicles with limited installation height. With a capacity of 75 Ah and a cold start current of 710 A (EN), it offers maximum performance in the flat LB3 case. It replaces the older DIN type 57209 or 57212. This battery delivers up to 35% more starting power than standard batteries and is ideal for vehicles that require a lot of energy but mechanically have no space for the 190 mm high standard batteries. Thanks to the sealed double lid technology, it is 100% maintenance free and designed for approx. 50,000 start cycles.

The specialist for flat installation spaces

The YBX5100 is the more powerful alternative to the YBX3100. It is perfectly suited for vehicles such as the Ford Mondeo, Ford Focus (diesel), Opel Vectra C, Opel Signum or Opel Insignia (models without start-stop), which use a battery box with a length of 278 mm but definitely require the low height of 175 mm. Installing a 190 mm high battery here risks short circuits on the bonnet or problems with securing.

FAQs about the Yuasa YBX5100

What is the difference to the YBX5096?

Both batteries have the same length (278 mm) and a similar performance class. The crucial difference is the height: The YBX5096 is 190 mm high (standard L3). The YBX5100 is 175 mm high (Flat LB3). If your vehicle is designed for the flat version (often Ford/Opel), you have to use the YBX5100.

What does DIN 57209 mean?

This is an old type number for batteries with approx. 72-75 Ah in flat design. The YBX5100 is the modern successor with up-to-date technology (Ca/Ca, maintenance free) and often better starting performance.

Is the battery suitable for Start-Stop?

No. The YBX5100 is a conventional starter battery. Vehicles with Start-Stop system need an EFB battery. In this flat size (LB3), this would usually be the YBX7100 (EFB), as a normal battery cannot endure cyclic loads.

Can I install this battery instead of a 70Ah or 72Ah battery?

Yes, absolutely. If the dimensions (278x175x175 mm) are correct, the upgrade to 75 Ah and 710 A is possible without any problems and even recommended, as you will have more reserves for cold starts and on-board electronics.
