The Yuasa YBX5054 is a high-quality 12V starter battery from the YBX5000 Silver High Performance SMF series, designed for small and micro cars from Asian manufacturers. FAQs about the Yuasa YBX5054
What are "thin terminals"?
This battery has T3 (JIS) type terminals. The positive terminal has a diameter of approx. 14.7 mm (instead of 19.5 mm for standard batteries). This is typical for small Asian cars. Please check your battery terminals. If you want to install this battery in a vehicle with normal, thick terminals, you will need adapter sleeves.
What is the difference to the YBX5053?
The YBX5053 is wider and longer (housing B24, approx. 238 mm long). The YBX5054 is significantly smaller (housing B19, approx. 187 mm long). Both have thin terminals, but are not interchangeable if the battery box specifies the size.
Is the battery suitable for Start-Stop?
No. The YBX5054 is a conventional starter battery. Small cars with automatic start-stop (e.g. Kia Picanto ISG, Mitsubishi Space Star Start-Stop) require a special EFB or AGM battery in this size.
How do I recognise the pole arrangement?
With the YBX5054, the positive terminal is on the right side (pole arrangement 0) when you have the battery in front of you with the terminals facing you. This usually corresponds to the JIS code "L" at the end of the type number (e.g. 40B19L).Properties
