The Yuasa YBX5019 is the most powerful model in the standard casing of the YBX5000 Silver High Performance SMF series. With a massive capacity of 100 Ah and an enormous cold cranking current of 900 A (EN), it provides maximum energy reserves for luxury class vehicles and large SUVs. It corresponds to the old DIN designation 60040. This battery delivers up to 35% more starting power than conventional standard batteries and is designed for around 50,000 starts. Thanks to the sealed double-lid technology, it is 100% maintenance-free and meets the highest safety standards.

The YBX5019 is the ideal choice for large saloons, estate cars and SUVs, such as Audi A6/A8, BMW 5 Series/7 Series, Mercedes E-/S-Class or Volvo XC90 (models without start-stop). It replaces old battery types such as DIN 60040 or 60038. Due to its high power density, it is especially recommended for diesel vehicles that need high currents for pre-glow and starting in winter.

FAQs about the Yuasa YBX5019

What does the note "DIN60040" mean?

This is an old industry standard (DIN number) for batteries of this size (100Ah, case L5). If your old battery has the number 60040, 60038 or 60044, the YBX5019 is the suitable, modern successor with up-to-date technology.

Will this battery fit in my car?

The YBX5019 is very large (353 mm long). Please measure your battery box precisely. This format (L5) is usually only used in larger vehicles. The height (190 mm) also needs to fit (note: there are rarer 175 mm high versions in this length, for which you would need a different model).

Is the battery suitable for start-stop?

No. Despite the high performance, the YBX5019 is a conventional lead-acid battery. Luxury vehicles with start-stop system or regenerative braking require an AGM battery (e.g. YBX9019) as it offers higher cycle resistance.

How does the "Magic Eye" work?

The viewing glass on the lid indicates the condition: Green means "State of charge OK". Black means "Recharging required". White or light usually means "Check" or "Acid level too low/defective" (replacement recommended).
