The Yuasa YBX3017 is a powerful 12V starter battery from the YBX3000 SMF series (Sealed Maintenance Free), specially developed for vehicles with high energy requirements, but which do not use start-stop technology. With a capacity of 90 Ah and a strong cold start current of 800 A, it fits into the standard L5 case size (353 mm length), but in the lower height (175 mm), also known as LB5. It offers reliable starting power for large petrol and diesel engines (e.g. in Audi, BMW, Volvo or Opel) and is absolutely maintenance-free thanks to the sealed double lid.

What is the difference to the YBX3019?

The decisive difference is the height.

• YBX3019: Height 190 mm (standard L5 case).
• YBX3017: Height 175 mm (Low LB5 case). Length (353 mm) and width (175 mm) are the same. If there is a cover or strut above the battery in your car, often only the flatter YBX3017 will fit. Please measure the height of your old battery!

Which vehicles is this battery suitable for?

The YBX3017 is a typical size for larger models of Opel (Insignia, Vectra), Ford (Mondeo, Galaxy), Volvo (V70, XC90) or Audi/VW, who require the flat height. It provides enough power for diesel engines and vehicles with lots of additional equipment (seat heating, air conditioning), as long as no start-stop system is installed.

Is the battery suitable for start-stop?

No. The YBX3017 is a wet-cell battery (SMF). Vehicles with start-stop automatic require an EFB or AGM battery. Using the YBX3017 in a start-stop car would lead to rapid failure.

Do I need to top up with water?

No, that is not possible and not necessary. The battery is hermetically sealed ("Sealed Maintenance Free"). The electrolyte supply is sufficient for the entire service life of the battery.
