Yuasa Car battery YBX3005 12V 60Ah 450A (YBX3000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX3005 is a powerful 12V starter battery from the YBX3000 SMF series (Sealed Maintenance Free). With a capacity of 60 Ah and 450 A cold cranking current, it has been specially developed for vehicles that require the Asian JIS case format (size D23). It often replaces older battery types such as the DIN 56068 (in terms of performance values) in imported vehicles. Thanks to the sealed double cover and calcium/calcium technology, the battery is completely maintenance-free, spill-proof and offers up to 30,000 starts – ideal for Japanese and Korean vehicles with premium features.
Highlights at a Glance
- JIS format (Asia standard): Specific dimensions (case D23: approx. 232 mm length, 225 mm height) for Asian vehicles such as Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Kia or Hyundai.
- YBX3000 Performance: Offers approx. 30,000 starts and therefore considerably more reserve than the base series (YBX1000).
- SMF Technology: The sealed tilt double cover reduces water loss by 30% and passes the VDA roll-over test – maximum safety.
- Maintenance-free: No need to top up with water; the battery is hermetically sealed.
- State of charge indicator: The integrated "Magic Eye" (SOCI) allows the battery status to be quickly checked at a glance.
- Comfort: Ergonomic carrying handle for easy installation in often tight engine compartments.
The Right Choice for Asian Models
The YBX3005 is the perfect replacement battery for many models that were supplied from the factory with a "D23" size battery (e.g. 55D23R or 60D23R). It combines the precisely fitting dimensions and the missing bottom rail (typical for Asian vehicles with bracket mount) with modern European safety technology.

FAQs about the Yuasa YBX3005
What does the reference to DIN 56068 mean?
The DIN number 56068 is an old designation for a 12V 60Ah battery. Electrically (60Ah), the YBX3005 corresponds to this type, but has a different design.
- DIN 56068: Mostly European case (L2, lower, bottom rail).
- YBX3005: Asian case (JIS D23, higher, no bottom rail). Please check before purchase: Do you need a battery that is clamped to the floor panel (then YBX3005 usually does not fit), or is it held from the top by a bracket (typical Asia)?
What is the difference to the YBX3014?
The YBX3005 and YBX3014 are identical in dimensions and performance. The difference is the pole arrangement.
- YBX3005: Positive terminal right (Layout 0).
- YBX3014: Positive terminal left (Layout 1). Look under the bonnet: On which side is the red cable?
Is the battery suitable for start-stop?
No. The YBX3000 series is a powerful wet battery (SMF), but not cycle-resistant enough for start-stop systems. For this you need an EFB battery (e.g. Yuasa YBX7005 for start-stop vehicles of this size).
Does the battery have a bottom rail?
No, the YBX3005 has the bottom rail variant "N" (None). It does not have a protruding base for attachment to the floor. It is intended for vehicles where the battery is secured from above by a metal frame or bracket.
