Yuasa AGM Start-Stop battery YBX9115 12V 80Ah 800A (YBX9000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX9115 is a high-performance AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery in the L4 housing from the YBX9000 series. It closes the gap between the smaller 70Ah (L3) and the large 95Ah (L5) battery. With a capacity of 80 Ah and a cold start current of 800 A (EN), it is the ideal energy source for high-end mid-range vehicles and SUVs with start-stop systems and brake energy recovery (recuperation). As the acid is absorbed in the glass mat, it offers maximum safety, vibration resistance and cycle durability.
Highlights at a glance
- AGM technology (VRLA): The leading technology for vehicles with recuperation, able to quickly take in and store high charge currents (during braking).
- Standard format (L4): Uses the 315 mm long housing (190 mm high), suitable for many BMW (3 Series/5 Series), Audi (A4/A5/Q5), Mercedes (C/E-Class) and Volvo models.
- Maximum cycle durability: Designed for around 360,000 start cycles, it can easily withstand the extreme strains from frequent engine starts and intelligent alternators.
- 100% leak-proof: Thanks to the glass mat technology, the battery is absolutely sealed and can also be safely installed inside the vehicle or boot (independent of installation position).
- Powerful: With 800 A starting current, it offers huge reserves for diesel engines even at the lowest temperatures.
- OE quality: Meets the specifications of vehicle manufacturers and is the perfect replacement for original 80Ah AGM batteries.
The golden mean for premium vehicles
The YBX9115 is the standard for vehicles that require slightly more energy than a Golf (70 Ah), but do not have the massive space requirement of an S-Class (95 Ah). It replaces the original 80 Ah AGM batteries (often referenced with the number DIN 58042 or 580901080). It is indispensable for cars with efficient dynamics and recuperation. Downgrading to EFB or wet-cell batteries will quickly lead to dashboard error messages and failure of comfort systems.

FAQs for Yuasa YBX9115
What is the difference between the YBX9096 (70Ah) and YBX9019 (95Ah)?
The difference is purely in the size and capacity.
- YBX9096 (L3): 278 mm long, 70 Ah.
- YBX9115 (L4): 315 mm long, 80 Ah.
- YBX9019 (L5): 353 mm long, 95 Ah. You must choose the size that fits your battery box. A 315 mm (L4) battery holder cannot accommodate a 353 mm (L5) battery.
What does DIN 58042 mean?
This is the old DIN type number for 80Ah starter batteries. The YBX9115 is the modern successor with AGM technology. If you find this number on your old battery and your vehicle has start-stop, the YBX9115 is the correct replacement.
Can I use this battery in place of a standard 80Ah wet battery?
Yes, this is a very good upgrade, especially if you have a lot of consumers (auxiliary heater, HiFi). However, note that AGM batteries do not like heat (do not install directly next to the turbo without heat protection), and the charging management must match (charging voltage max. 14.8 V).
Do I need to register the battery?
Yes. Vehicles that use an 80Ah AGM battery (typically BMW, Audi, Mercedes) always have a battery management system (BMS). The replacement must be registered ("coded") so that the car knows the battery is back to 100% capacity and is not charged as if it were the old, worn-out battery.
