Yuasa AGM Start-Stop battery YBX9096 12V 70Ah 760A (YBX9000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX9096 is the absolute bestseller in the YBX9000 AGM series as it utilises the widely used L3 case. It was specially developed for mid-range vehicles equipped with start-stop systems and brake energy recuperation. With a capacity of 70 Ah and a strong cold start current of 760 A (EN), it is the powerhouse for models such as the VW Golf, VW Passat, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 or Mercedes C-Class. Thanks to AGM technology (Absorbent Glass Mat), it is leak-proof, vibration-resistant and extremely cycle-resistant.
Highlights at a glance
- AGM technology (VRLA): The most advanced technology for start-stop vehicles with brake energy recuperation, indispensable for efficient energy management.
- Standard format (L3): Uses the most common case (278 mm length, 190 mm height), suitable for a large proportion of European vehicles from the compact class upwards.
- Maximum cycle stability: Designed for approx. 360,000 starting operations, it offers up to 4 times longer service life than conventional wet batteries.
- Recuperation-capable: Absorbs high charging currents extremely quickly when braking and stores them, which reduces fuel consumption and stabilises the vehicle power supply.
- 100% leak-proof: As the acid is bound in the glass mat, the battery can also be safely installed in the interior (e.g. under the seat or in the boot).
- OE quality: Meets the strict specifications of premium manufacturers and corresponds in performance and quality to original equipment.
The all-rounder for the mid-range (AGM)
The YBX9096 is the most important battery for modern cars. It replaces older AGM types with 70 Ah, 72 Ah or 74 Ah (e.g. DIN 57412). It is absolutely essential if your vehicle has technologies such as "BlueMotion Technology" (VW), "EfficientDynamics" (BMW) or "ECO start/stop" (Mercedes) on board. Installing a weaker EFB or wet-cell battery would quickly lead to problems, as these cannot permanently cope with the high recuperation currents.

FAQs about the Yuasa YBX9096
What is the difference to the YBX7096?
The YBX9096 is an AGM battery, the YBX7096 is an EFB battery. Both are the same size (L3, 278 mm).
- AGM (YBX9096): For start-stop with recuperation (standard for BMW, Mercedes, Audi and many VWs).
- EFB (YBX7096): For start-stop without recuperation (often in small cars or base models). If your car originally had an AGM, you must use the YBX9096 again.
My old battery has 72Ah or 74Ah, does the 70Ah fit?
Yes, that is the modern standard. In the past there were many gradations (72 Ah, 74 Ah). In AGM technology, the L3 size has settled at 70 Ah. Despite the nominally slightly lower Ah rating, the YBX9096 often delivers a higher cold start current (760 A) than older 74 Ah models and is the correct replacement.
Is the battery suitable for installation inside the vehicle?
Yes. As it is a VRLA battery (Valve Regulated Lead Acid), it is gas-tight and leak-proof. It is safe for installation in the boot (typical for BMW/Mercedes) or under the seat. A degassing hose should still be connected (if present) to ensure safe venting in the event of overcharging (defect).
Do I need to register the battery?
Yes. For vehicles with energy management (BMS) and start-stop, it is important to "register" the new battery. The system resets the charge history and thus ensures that the new AGM battery is charged optimally and lasts a long time.
