Yuasa AGM Start-Stop battery YBX9027 12V 60Ah 640A (YBX9000 series)
Description
Product information
The Yuasa YBX9027 is a high-quality AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery from the YBX9000 series, developed for compact and mid-range vehicles with advanced start-stop technology and brake energy recovery (recuperation). With a capacity of 60 Ah and a cold start current of 640 A (EN) in a standard L2 case, it offers maximum performance in a compact space. As the acid is firmly bound in the glass fleece, it is absolutely leak-proof, vibration-resistant, and offers the highest cycle stability in the Yuasa range.
Highlights at a glance
- AGM technology (VRLA): Currently the best technology for start-stop systems with recuperation, essential for the efficient storage of brake energy.
- Standard format (L2): Uses the widely used case (242 mm length, 190 mm height), suitable for VW Golf, Audi A3, Mini Cooper or Hyundai i30 with AGM technology.
- Maximum cycle stability: Designed for approx. 360,000 starts, it lasts up to four times longer than conventional starter batteries.
- 100 % leak-proof: Thanks to the nonwoven technology, there is no free acid; the battery can be safely installed in any position (even in the passenger compartment or boot).
- OE quality: Meets the stringent requirements of car manufacturers for AGM batteries and is often used as original equipment.
- Maintenance-free: The closed system (VRLA) completely prevents water loss; topping up is not required.
The standard for Golf, A3 & Co. (AGM)
The YBX9027 is the perfect choice for vehicles that were supplied from the factory with an AGM battery of size L2 (often 60Ah or 58Ah). This is very common with models such as the VW Golf VII/VIII (BlueMotion), Audi A3, BMW 1 Series or Mini. It is essential if the vehicle has intelligent energy management that relieves the alternator and uses braking energy. A standard wet battery or EFB would be overstrained here.

FAQs for Yuasa YBX9027
What is the difference to the YBX7027?
The YBX9027 is an AGM battery, the YBX7027 is an EFB battery. Both are the same size (L2, 242 mm).
- Does your car have recuperation (brake energy recovery, e.g. VW BlueMotion, BMW EfficientDynamics)? -> Then you must use the YBX9027 (AGM).
- Does your car only have basic start-stop without recuperation? -> Then the YBX7027 (EFB) is often sufficient. An upgrade from EFB to AGM is possible (brings more performance), a downgrade from AGM to EFB is not permitted.
Can I use this battery instead of a 55Ah or 62Ah battery?
Yes, as long as the case size (L2, approx. 24 cm long) matches. The capacity specifications vary slightly (58Ah, 60Ah, 62Ah). The YBX9027 with 60Ah is the current standard for this size in AGM technology.
What does DIN 56219 mean?
This is an old DIN number for batteries in the 60-62Ah class. The YBX9027 is the modern high-performance successor in AGM technology. If your old battery has this number or a similar one (e.g. 560901) and it is a start-stop vehicle, the YBX9027 is the correct replacement.
Do I have to initialise the battery?
Yes. Vehicles with AGM batteries almost always have a battery management system (BMS). The battery change must be registered in the control unit ("coding") so that the system knows that a new, fully charged battery is installed and the charging strategy (recuperation) can be fully used again.
