The Yuasa YBX9019 is the powerhouse of the YBX9000 AGM series, developed for luxury vehicles, SUVs and high-performance vans. With a capacity of 95 Ah and a cold starting current of 850 A (EN) in the large L5 case, it is the ultimate energy solution for vehicles with start-stop technology and brake energy recuperation (regeneration). Thanks to AGM technology (Absorbent Glass Mat), the acid is securely bound in the glass mat, guaranteeing maximum cycle stability and vibration resistance.

The YBX9019 is the standard for large German luxury vehicles. It replaces the original AGM batteries (often labelled as 90 Ah, 92 Ah or 95 Ah) in models such as the BMW 5 Series/7 Series/X5, Audi A6/A8/Q7, Mercedes E-Class/S-Class/GLE or Porsche Cayenne. These vehicles use intensive energy management with regeneration. Installing a lower-rated battery (e.g. EFB or wet battery) would inevitably result in system malfunctions and extremely shortened service life.

FAQs for Yuasa YBX9019

Can I use this battery instead of a 90Ah or 92Ah AGM?

Yes, this is the intended standard replacement. OEM manufacturers often use odd values (90 Ah, 92 Ah), whereas the aftermarket standardises on 95 Ah. The YBX9019 fits perfectly both mechanically (L5 case) and electrically.

What is the difference to the YBX7019 (EFB)?

The YBX9019 is an AGM battery, the YBX7019 is an EFB battery.

If your car has regeneration (brake energy recuperation, often recognisable by "EfficientDynamics" or "BlueMotion"), you must choose the AGM (YBX9019).
An EFB is cheaper, but is not powerful enough for regeneration. Downgrading from AGM to EFB is not permitted.

Do I need to register the battery?

Yes, absolutely. Vehicles in this class (BMW, Audi, Mercedes) have a complex battery management system (BMS). The system must know that a new battery has been fitted to reset the charging cycles. Otherwise, the new battery will be treated as the old, faulty one and will not be fully charged.

Is the battery suitable for installation inside the vehicle?

Yes. As it is a VRLA battery (Valve Regulated Lead Acid), it does not emit gases during normal operation and is completely leak-proof. It is therefore safe to install under the driver’s seat (e.g. VW T5/T6, Fiat Ducato) or in the boot.
