Vision Lead-acid battery CP12240HX with 12V and 24Ah
Description
Product information
The Vision CP12240HX is a highly reliable, valve-regulated lead-acid battery (VRLA) with 12 Volt nominal voltage and 24 Ah capacity, specially designed for demanding standby operation with high discharge currents. Equipped with maintenance-free AGM technology and a service life of up to 10 years, this high-current battery offers an extremely safe and long-lasting emergency power supply for critical applications. Whether in powerful UPS systems or medical technology, the CP12240HX meets the highest standards of quality and operational safety.
Highlights at a glance
- High current capability: Optimised for high discharge currents, ideal for powerful UPS systems and other critical loads.
- Long service life: Designed for a service life of up to 10 years in standby mode (float) at 20 °C.
- High capacity: 24 Ah at 12 V for a long-lasting power supply in the event of an emergency.
- Maintenance-free: Fully sealed AGM technology with efficient gas recombination eliminates the need for maintenance.
- Low self-discharge: Enables a long shelf life and ensures a high level of operational readiness.
- Flexible mounting: Operation is possible in all positions, except for permanent overhead use.
Reliable performance for safety-critical applications
The Vision CP12240HX delivers a nominal capacity of 24 Ah at a 20-hour discharge rate. Its particular strength lies in the ability to deliver very high currents for short periods, making it ideal for use in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) that need to supply high loads on start-up. Its design for standby parallel operation ensures that it provides full power immediately in the event of a power failure.
Robust technology for demanding environments
Thanks to VRLA technology (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) with an electrolyte bound in glass fiber fleece (AGM system), the CP12240HX is absolutely maintenance-free and leak-proof. The battery has self-regulating safety valves that ensure safe pressure equalisation in the event of overcharging. The low self-discharge rate of less than 3% per month at 20°C enables long-term storage. The robust housing made of impact-resistant ABS plastic is also available in a flame retardant version according to UL94:V0 upon request.

FAQs about the Vision CP12240HX lead-acid battery
For which applications is the CP12240HX suitable?
The battery is ideal for demanding standby applications with high power requirements:
- Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
- Data centres and telecommunication systems
- Safety lighting and emergency lighting systems
- Fire alarm systems (FAS) and intruder alarm systems (IAS)
- Medical and clinical devices
What does the designation "HX" and "high-current capable" mean?
The designation "HX" on Vision batteries stands for "High Rate" or high current. These batteries are designed with thinner lead plates and a larger active surface area, which reduces the internal resistance. As a result, they can deliver significantly higher currents for a short time than standard batteries of the same capacity, which is crucial for starting motors or operating UPS systems.
What is the difference to a standard 10 year battery?
Although both have a long service life in standby operation, the CP12240HX is specially optimised for high performance. A standard long-life battery is designed for the longest possible service life at lower discharge currents. The HX type is the first choice when maximum power output is needed in the first minutes of a power failure.
What charging voltage is correct for this battery?
For maximum service life in standby operation, the float charge voltage at 20°C should be between 13.5 V and 13.8 V (2.25 V to 2.30 V per cell). Temperature compensation is strongly recommended for optimal battery maintenance.
Is the battery maintenance-free?
Yes, thanks to the sealed AGM technology, the battery is completely maintenance-free. No topping up with water is required and it can be safely operated in equipment and indoors.
Can I use this battery for a solar system?
Although the battery would technically work, it is not ideal for this purpose. It is optimised for standby operation. For solar applications that require daily charge and discharge cycles, we recommend cycle-resistant batteries (recognisable by the "DX" at Vision), as these achieve a significantly longer service life in cyclic operation.
