High performance for cyclic applications

The 6FM40X delivers reliable power in repeated discharge cycles. With a capacity of 40 Ah at a 10-hour discharge rate, this battery is an excellent choice for mobile applications and systems with high energy requirements. Its special construction, which utilises lead-calcium-tin alloys, enables high cycle stability and excellent recovery after deep discharge.

Robust technology for demanding environments

Thanks to the VRLA technology with AGM System the 6FM40X is completely maintenance-free and leak-proof. The electrolyte is securely bound in a glass fibre mat, which enables safe handling and operation in any position. The battery features self-closing low-pressure vent valves that ensure pressure equalisation within the cells. The housing is made of robust ABS plastic that is impact- and break-resistant and is also available on request in a flame-retardant version (UL94:V0). The low self-discharge rate of approximately 3% per month enables long-term storage while maintaining high operational readiness.

FAQs on the Vision 6FM40X lead-acid battery

For which applications is the 6FM40X best suited?

This battery has been specially developed for cyclic applications in which the battery is regularly discharged and recharged. It is ideally suited as the main power supply for electric vehicles such as wheelchairs and golf buggies, as well as for use in solar installations, telecommunications systems and mobile measuring devices. Furthermore, the battery has VdS approval, making it ideal for safety-critical applications such as fire and burglar alarm systems.

What does "cycle-resistant" mean?

A cycle-resistant battery is specifically designed to withstand a high number of charge and discharge cycles without significantly losing its capacity or service life. This distinguishes it from conventional lead-acid batteries, which are designed more for standby operation.

How do I charge the battery correctly?

We recommend using a charger designed for AGM batteries with a capacity of 40 Ah. Observe the charging voltages recommended by the manufacturer: 13.6 V to 13.8 V for float charging and 14.4 V to 14.7 V for boost charging. An excessively high charging current can shorten the battery’s service life.

How long does the 6FM40X battery last?

The battery has a design life of up to 10 years at 20 °C. However, the actual service life depends heavily on the specific operating conditions, the depth of discharge and the ambient temperature.

These batteries are designed with thinner lead plates and a larger active surface area, which reduces the internal resistance. As a result, they can deliver significantly higher currents for a short time than standard batteries of the same capacity, which is crucial for starting motors or operating UPS systems. What is the difference to a standard 10 year battery?Although both have a long service life in standby operation, the CP12240HX is specially optimised for high performance. A standard long-life battery is designed for the longest possible service life at lower discharge currents. The HX type is the first choice when maximum power output is needed in the first minutes of a power failure. What charging voltage is correct for this battery? For maximum service life in standby operation, the float charge voltage at 20°C should be between 13.5 V and 13.8 V (2.25 V to 2.30 V per cell). Temperature compensation is strongly recommended for optimal battery maintenance. Is the battery maintenance-free?Yes, thanks to the sealed AGM technology, the battery is completely maintenance-free. No topping up with water is required and it can be safely operated in equipment and indoors. Can I use this battery for a solar system?Although the battery would technically work, it is not ideal for this purpose. It is optimised for standby operation. For solar applications that require daily charge and discharge cycles, we recommend cycle-resistant batteries (recognisable by the "DX" at Vision), as these achieve a significantly longer service life in cyclic operation.
