Is this battery compatible with the designation SR42W?

The Varta 350 corresponds to the internationally standardised IEC designation SR1136W. The designation SR42W is not standardised. Please check the number on your old battery. If it says 350 or SR1136W, this is the correct and suitable replacement.

Can I replace a V344 (SR1136SW) "Low Drain" battery with this V350?

If your device (e.g. a watch with illumination) requires a "high drain" battery, the V350 is the right choice. A "low drain" cell could collapse in voltage under high load. Conversely, you can use a V350 in a simple watch, but a "low drain" cell is usually the more efficient solution there.
