What does "axial connections" mean?

Axial connections are connecting wires that are led out from the centre of the two flat ends (terminals) of the cylindrical cell, i.e. along the longitudinal axis of the battery. This configuration is ideal for horizontal mounting and for inserting the wires through holes in a printed circuit board (Through-Hole Technology, THT).
