Ultralife High Energy Lithium Battery UHE-ER26500-H 3,6V 8,8Ah (C-Cell Bobbin)
Description
Product information
The Ultralife UHE-ER26500-H is a high-capacity primary lithium battery in the size C (Baby). It belongs to the "High Energy" series and is based on the Bobbin technology (coil construction). This construction is uncompromisingly designed for maximum energy density and extremely long runtimes. With a capacity of 8.8 Ah, it offers almost the energy of a large D-cell in a more compact C-case. It is the perfect solution for applications that need to be self-sufficiently supplied with low currents for years.
Highlights at a glance
- High energy density: Makes optimum use of the housing volume of the C-cell (Baby) and, with 8.8 Ah, provides enormous capacity for long-term applications.
- Bobbin technology: The internal structure is optimised for low discharge currents, minimising self-discharge and maximising service life.
- Long shelf life: Thanks to the stable lithium thionyl chloride chemistry (Li-SOCl2), the battery loses less than 2% charge per year and can be stored for over 10 years.
- Constant voltage: The discharge curve is extremely flat; the nominal voltage of 3.6 V remains stable over almost the entire service life, simplifying the electronics design.
- Extreme temperature range: Works reliably from arctic -55 °C to hot +85 °C.
- Industry standard: Hermetically sealed stainless steel housing and laser welding guarantee protection against leaks in sensitive devices.
The endurance runner for meters & sensors
The UHE-ER26500-H is ideal for devices that are to be "installed and forgotten". It is widely used in professional metering equipment (Smart Metering for gas/water), industrial data loggers, alarm system sensors and for memory backup in industrial control systems. Where changing a battery would be expensive or complex, this cell shows its strengths.

FAQs for Ultralife UHE-ER26500-H
What is the difference to the UHR-ER26500?
The difference lies in the performance curve (energy vs. power).
- UHE (your battery): "High Energy" (Bobbin). Maximum capacity (8.8 Ah), but only suitable for low currents.
- UHR (Spiral): "High Rate" (Spiral). Slightly less capacity (approx. 6-7 Ah), but suitable for high currents (e.g. radio transmission, motors). If your device only measures and stores, use the UHE. If it transmits or works mechanically, check whether the current demand will overload the UHE.
Can I use this battery instead of a normal C-cell (Baby)?
Warning: No! A normal C-cell battery (alkaline) has 1.5 Volts. This industrial battery has 3.6 Volts. If you insert this battery into a toy, standard torch or radio, the device will be damaged by overvoltage. It is designed exclusively for specialised industrial equipment.
Why do I measure less voltage on a new battery?
This is the passivation effect. Lithium thionyl chloride batteries form an internal protective layer during storage, preventing self-discharge. When measuring voltage with a high-impedance multimeter, it may initially read low or drop immediately under load. The battery must be "depassivated" (short-term load) for full voltage to be available.
Is the battery rechargeable?
No, it is a primary battery. Recharging may cause gas formation, leakage or explosion.
