Solar cable red 75m 4mm
Product information
The SOLR475 solar cable (75 metres, 4 mm²) in Red is a high-quality solution for cabling photovoltaic systems over longer distances. With a length of 75 metres, this roll offers maximum flexibility for string cabling on large roofs or when connecting module arrays to the inverter in larger buildings. The red colour serves to identify the positive (+) terminal in accordance with standards, which makes the installation clearer and enhances safety during fitting.
Certified to the international standard IEC 62930The SOLR475 meets the most stringent quality standards for long-term use under extreme conditions. The combination of a fine-stranded, tinned copper conductor and the robust XLPO double insulation ensures efficient energy transmission and protects the cable from environmental influences for decades.
Highlights at a glance
- Certified industrial quality: Complies with the IEC 62930 standard (H1Z2Z2-K) and is therefore approved for system voltages up to 1500 V DC.
- Optimal project length: 75-metre lengths allow for uninterrupted installation, even along complex routes, without unnecessary joints.
- Reliable identification: The red outer sheath ensures clear visual identification of the positive conductor in accordance with standard installation practices.
- Maximum durability: The UV- and ozone-resistant XLPO double insulation prevents premature ageing caused by sunlight and weathering.
- Corrosion-protected conductor: Tinned electrolytic copper guarantees consistently low contact resistance and protects against oxidation, even in damp environments.
- Extreme temperature range: Safe for use from -40°C to +90°C (maximum conductor temperature up to +120°C).
Areas of application
The SOLR475 is the ideal choice for demanding installation scenarios:
- Larger roof-mounted systems
- Perfect for connecting solar modules to the inverter when the latter is installed across several storeys or in a remote plant room.
- Commercial PV projects
- Ideal for string cabling in larger systems where high reliability and compliance with standards are required.
- Standalone & hybrid systems
- Used in self-sufficient power supply systems for remote buildings or agricultural holdings.
Installation & Safety Instructions
- Professional assembly
- Use only high-quality MC4 connectors to complete the cable assembly. A gas-tight crimp using specialised solar crimping pliers is essential for long-term safety.
- Protection against mechanical damage
- Always route the cable through protective conduits where it passes through walls or along sharp roof edges to protect the insulation from mechanical abrasion.
- Avoiding cable loops
- Ensure that the cable is laid in such a way that no large induction loops are formed (the positive and negative wires should be routed as close together as possible) in order to improve the system’s EMC compatibility.

FAQs on the red 75m 4mm² solar cable
Why is 4 mm² often sufficient for 75 metres?
Due to the high string voltage. In modern PV systems, modules are often connected in series, which increases the voltage whilst keeping the current (amperes) relatively low. At high voltages, the percentage power loss with a 4 mm² cable is usually very low, even over a distance of 75 metres.
Can the cable also be laid permanently outdoors?
Yes. The cable is specifically certified for outdoor installation. It is resistant to ammonia (important in agriculture), ozone and intense UV radiation.
What is the advantage over conventional rubber cables?
The chemical cross-linking of the insulation. XLPO insulation (cross-linked polyolefin) does not melt when exposed to heat and does not become brittle in winter. It is also flame-retardant and halogen-free, which minimises smoke production in the event of a fire.| Cross-section of the conductor: | 4.00 mm² |
