FAQs on the Saft LS14500 Lithium Cylindrical Cell

Can I replace a standard 1.5 V AA battery with a Saft LS14500?

No, definitely not. The Saft LS14500 has a voltage of 3.6 V, which is more than double that of an ordinary alkaline or lithium AA battery (1.5 V). Using it in a device designed for 1.5 V batteries would immediately and irreparably damage the electronics.

Is the Saft LS14500 rechargeable?

No, the LS14500 is a lithium primary battery and must not under any circumstances be recharged. Any attempt to do so is dangerous and can lead to destruction of the cell, leakage or explosion.

For which applications is the LS14500 particularly well suited?

It is ideal for professional applications with low continuous current, which must function reliably for many years. These include, in particular, battery-operated sensors, meters (electricity, gas, water), security technology, memory buffering (memory back up) and GPS trackers.

What is the difference to the Saft LS14250?

The principal difference is in the size and capacity. The LS14500 is AA size and offers a capacity of 2.6 Ah. The LS14250, on the other hand, is half size (1/2 AA) and consequently has a lower capacity of 1.2 Ah. The choice depends on the energy requirement and available space in the application.

How should the LS14500 be correctly disposed of?

As a lithium battery it is subject to special disposal regulations. It must be given to appropriate municipal collection points or specialist retailers. Disposal with household waste is not permitted.
