NITECORE NU06 MI – Infrared (IR) & RGB signal light for tactical operations
Product information
The Nitecore NU06 MI (Military Intelligence) is the specialised tactical version of the ultra-compact NU06 series. Unlike the civilian ‘LE’ version, this model replaces the white light with a 940 nm infrared LED (IR)This makes it the first choice for military operations, law enforcement operations and hunting in conjunction with night vision goggles (NVG).
This tiny signal module offers four light sources (infrared, red, green, blue) in a robust polycarbonate casing. A special feature is the haptic feedback: the torch vibrates when the invisible IR signals are activated, so that the user knows immediately – even without night-vision goggles – whether the device is transmitting. Thanks to the three adapters supplied (ARC-Rail, MOLLE, magnetic Velcro), the NU06 MI can be mounted with maximum flexibility on a helmet, vest or other equipment.
Key features at a glance
- Infrared light (940 nm): Equipped with a high-performance IR LED that is invisible to the naked eye but glows brightly in night-vision devices (ideal for covert IFF marking).
- 4 signal colours: In addition to infrared (IR), it also emits visible red, green and blue light for team markings or status indicators.
- Vibration feedback: As IR light is invisible, the torch vibrates briefly when IR mode is switched on to provide the user with tactile feedback on its operating status.
- Comprehensive fitting kit: Includes 3 adapters: 1x magnetic Velcro mount (for uniform/helmet Velcro), 1x ARC-Rail adapter (for combat helmets) and 1x MOLLE clip (for vests/rucksacks).
- USB-C rechargeable: The integrated 250 mAh Li-ion battery provides up to 75 hours of runtime and is charged via the modern USB-C port.
- Ultra-light & robust: The module weighs only 15.8 g and is IP66-rated for protection against powerful water jets and dust.
Areas of application
The NU06 MI is designed for users of night-vision equipment:
- Military & Special Forces: For friend-or-foe identification (IFF) under night vision (IR flashing) or for team marking (blue/green/red).
- Hunting & tracking: Hunters using night vision equipment can mark their position or that of their dog without scaring off the game with visible light.
- Airsoft & MilSim: For realistic night-time games to indicate ‘hit’ status (red) or team affiliation.
- Service dogs (K9): For silent and invisible tracking of the dog in the dark using IR.
Installation & Safety Instructions
- Secure attachment to the helmet: The ARC-Rail adapter locks securely into the side rails of Ops-Core and similar helmets. This prevents the torch from being lost in dense undergrowth.
- Eye safety (IR): Never look directly into the IR LED from a short distance, even if it appears dark. The radiant energy can damage the eye.
- Accidental switch-on protection: Press and hold the button to switch the torch on. This prevents it from being switched on accidentally whilst in your pocket.

FAQs about the NITECORE NU06 MI
What is the difference between this and the NU06 LE?
The NU06 LE (Law Enforcement) is available in white, red, green and blue. The NU06 MI (Military Intelligence) replaces the white light with Infrared (IR)If you do not own night-vision goggles, the LE version is more suitable. If you use NVGs, the MI version is essential.
Can I see the IR light with my mobile phone?
To a limited extent. Many smartphone cameras have weak IR filters and may display the light as a purple dot on the screen. However, the human eye cannot perceive it at all (940 nm is completely invisible; there is no ‘glow’).
Does the torch fit onto the MOLLE loops on a vest?
Yes. The clip supplied is specifically designed for MOLLE/PALS loops (1-inch webbing). The torch sits securely and is barely noticeable.Login
