MEXCEL X3 Emergency Light – LiFePO4, 3.2 V / 1.5 Ah

Description

Product information

The MEXCEL X3 emergency light is a state-of-the-art, compact safety and escape route lighting system, specially developed for use in commercial, public and demanding private buildings. It replaces outdated, high-maintenance emergency lights with lead or NiCd batteries with a highly efficient LED system and, thanks to state-of-the-art battery technology, offers maximum reliability in an emergency.

With its well-thought-out design, the MEXCEL X3 is not only a functional safety device but also serves as a low-maintenance control centre for escape route safety (Safety Light Hub). Equipped with a long-life lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4, 3.2 V / 1.5 Ah) it guarantees reliable operation and long-term serviceability when it matters most.

Highlights at a glance

  • State-of-the-art LiFePO4 technology: The integrated lithium iron phosphate battery (3.2 V / 1.5 Ah) ensures an extremely long service life, high thermal stability and minimal self-discharge compared to conventional emergency lighting batteries.
  • High energy efficiency: High-performance, long-life LEDs provide bright and uniform illumination of the escape route with minimal power consumption in standby mode.
  • Intelligent charging electronics: It permanently protects the battery against overcharging and deep discharge, and ensures rapid operational readiness following emergency power activation.
  • Flexible mounting design: Depending on the housing variant, it allows for straightforward wall or ceiling mounting for optimum visibility in the escape route.
  • Integrated test function: Features a clearly visible status LED and a test button (or self-test function, depending on the model variant) for easy verification of operational readiness in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Robust construction: The housing reliably protects the sensitive electronics from external influences and blends discreetly into modern architectural designs.

Areas of application

The MEXCEL X3 is the ideal choice for meeting the legal requirements for emergency lighting:

  • Office & administrative buildings: Reliable signage for escape routes, stairwells and exits to ensure the safe evacuation of staff and visitors.
  • Retail outlets & catering: Bright illumination of escape routes in shops, hotels or restaurants in the event of a sudden power cut.
  • Apartment blocks & underground car parks: Provides guidance in dark corridors, basements or car parks to effectively prevent panic during power cuts.

Installation & Safety Instructions

  • Battery activation: Before final commissioning, the LiFePO4 battery (3.2 V) must be connected to the circuit board via the internal plug contact, as it is disconnected on delivery to prevent discharge.
  • Continuous or standby mode: Depending on the wiring and jumper settings on the circuit board, the light can be operated in continuous mode (permanently lit) or in standby mode (switches on only in the event of a power failure).
  • Installation by qualified personnel: As the luminaire is connected to the 230V AC mains supply, for safety reasons, installation and electrical connection must only be carried out by a certified electrician

FAQs on the MEXCEL X3 emergency light

What benefits does the LiFePO4 battery offer over old NiCd batteries?

  • Significantly longer service life and environmental friendliness. LiFePO4 batteries (lithium iron phosphate) have no memory effect, exhibit significantly lower self-discharge and can withstand considerably more charge cycles. Furthermore, unlike older nickel-cadmium batteries, they contain no toxic heavy metals and are extremely well protected against overheating.

How often does the emergency light’s battery need to be replaced?

  • Usually every 5 to 8 years. Thanks to the robust LiFePO4 cell chemistry, the battery’s service life is almost doubled compared to older systems. Nevertheless, legal standards require the battery to be replaced if the required emergency lighting duration is no longer achieved during the annual endurance test.

Does the luminaire switch off automatically once mains power is restored?

  • Yes. As soon as the regular power supply (230V) is restored, the luminaire (provided it is operating in standby mode) automatically switches off the emergency LEDs and switches to charging mode to prepare the 3.2V battery for the next emergency.

Are emergency exit pictograms included in the scope of delivery?

  • Depending on the set contents. The MEXCEL X3 is often supplied as a combination light. Depending on the scope of delivery, standardised arrow pictograms (emergency exit left/right/down) for sticking on or inserting are included directly, so that the light can be used as an emergency exit sign.
