High-voltage inverter and battery storage in a set – the heart of your solar system

This set contains the two key components of a high-performance solar system with storage: the three-phase Deye SUN-10K-SG01HP3-EU-DM2 hybrid inverter and the Felicity FLH96050SG1 high-voltage battery storage unit with 15.36 kWh. Combine the set with solar modules of your choice to build a new system, or retrofit an existing PV system with this set via AC coupling.

Who is this set suitable for?

✅ Households with high electricity consumption, e.g. with a heat pump or electric car
✅ Self-builders and homeowners who would like to choose their solar modules themselves
✅ Owners of an existing PV system who want to retrofit a storage system (AC coupling)
✅ Households with a three-phase domestic connection, as is common in Germany
✅ Anyone who would like to expand their storage system flexibly to up to 30.72 kWh later

The components explained simply

1. Hybrid inverter: Deye SUN-10K-SG01HP3-EU-DM2

What it does: Solar modules generate direct current, your household needs alternating current. The inverter converts the electricity. As a hybrid inverter, it also controls the storage system and automatically decides where the electricity flows: into the house, into the storage system or into the grid.

Why this inverter:

  • 10 kW output, 3-phase: It feeds into all three phases of your domestic connection, as is common in Germany.
  • 100 % asymmetrical output: It can load the phases to different extents. This is practical because household appliances rarely use the phases evenly.
  • For high-voltage storage systems: It operates with battery voltages of 160–700 V and charges or discharges at up to 37 A.
  • Plenty of flexibility for solar modules: Up to 16 kW max. PV input power, 1,000 V max. input voltage and two MPP trackers. This also allows two differently oriented roof surfaces to be used, e.g. east and west.
  • High efficiency: Up to 97.6 % (Euro efficiency 97.0 %).
  • Quiet: Natural cooling without a fan and a noise level of max. 45 dB.
  • Retrofitting storage: The inverter can also be combined with an existing PV system via AC coupling.
  • Intelligent charging control: With 6 freely adjustable time windows, you can define when the storage system is charged or discharged, e.g. to match a dynamic electricity tariff.
  • Off-grid operation: According to the manufacturer, the inverter supports off-grid operation, i.e. operation without a public grid. Whether and how your appliances continue to be supplied in the event of a power cut depends on the installation. Discuss this with your electrician.
  • Future-proof: It supports charging via a diesel generator and parallel operation of up to 10 inverters.
  • Robust: IP65 protection against dust and water jets, operation from −40 to +60 °C.
  • Complies with standards: It complies with the German grid connection guideline VDE-AR-N 4105.

Integrated protection functions: Insulation monitoring, residual current detection, anti-islanding protection, DC switch, reverse polarity protection and surge protection (Type II, DC and AC).

Good to know: The inverter weighs approx. 24.5 kg and measures 376 × 470 × 244.5 mm.

2. Battery storage: Felicity FLH96050SG1 (15.36 kWh)

What it does: The storage system takes in surplus solar power and releases it as soon as the modules do not supply enough, especially in the evening and at night.

Why this storage system:

  • 15.36 kWh capacity: Three battery modules of 5.12 kWh each plus control module. With a depth of discharge of at least 95 %, around 14.6 kWh usable.
  • LiFePO4 cells: Lithium iron phosphate is considered a particularly safe and durable battery chemistry. The storage system achieves at least 6,000 charge cycles (at 0.2C, 25 °C and 80 % depth of discharge).
  • Protected multiple times: An intelligent BMS, a circuit breaker and a fuse protect the storage system. In addition, there is an aerosol fire extinguishing system and protection for the inverter interface.
  • Robust housing: Protection class IP65, meaning dust-tight and protected against water jets.
  • Touch display: Via the LCD touch display on the control module, you can see the status and set parameters and operating mode.
  • Easy to expand: The modules are stacked on top of each other. This allows you to expand the capacity up to 30.72 kWh (6 battery modules).
  • Charging and discharging power: Felicity recommends 25 A, which is around 7.7 kW. The inverter can handle up to 37 A (around 11.4 kW), the storage system can tolerate up to 50 A continuously.
  • Certified: UN38.3, CB, CE-EMC and IEC 62619.
  • Warranty: 10 years (in accordance with Felicity warranty conditions).

Good to know: The storage system is placed on the floor or stacked; wall mounting is not intended. Each battery module weighs 57.5 kg and measures 600 × 385 × 260 mm. The control module weighs 12.5 kg and measures 600 × 385 × 200 mm. Together this is approx. 185 kg and a height of approx. 98 cm, in each case without base. Charging is possible at 0–55 °C, discharging at −20–55 °C.

FAQs on the high-voltage PV storage set

What is the difference between high voltage and low voltage?
In a high-voltage storage system, the battery modules are connected in series, the voltage here is 307.2 V. In low-voltage storage systems, it is usually around 51 V. Due to the higher voltage, less current flows, less energy is lost, and high charging and discharging outputs are possible.

Which solar modules are suitable for the inverter?
The inverter processes up to 16 kW PV input power via two solar inputs with one string each. The voltage range is 150–850 V, the max. current is 18 A per input. This means most modern solar modules are suitable. Your installer will determine the exact wiring.

Can I combine the set with my existing PV system?
Yes. The inverter supports AC coupling. This allows an existing PV system to be retrofitted with a storage system without replacing the existing inverter. Your electrician will clarify whether this makes sense for your system.

How much energy can I actually store?
The storage system has a nominal energy of 15.36 kWh. With a depth of discharge of at least 95 %, around 14.6 kWh usable is available to you.

How quickly does the storage system charge and discharge?
The inverter charges and discharges at up to 37 A, which is around 11.4 kW. Felicity recommends 25 A for continuous operation, i.e. around 7.7 kW. The exact values are controlled by the battery management system depending on temperature and state of charge.

Can I expand the storage system later?
Yes. The FLH96050SG1 can be expanded to up to 6 battery modules, which is 30.72 kWh. The modules are simply stacked on top of each other.

Where is the storage system installed?
The storage system is placed on the floor or stacked; wall mounting is not intended. With three battery modules and control module, it weighs approx. 185 kg. It has protection class IP65 and is therefore dust-tight and protected against water jets. It can be charged at 0–55 °C.

How safe is the storage system?
The storage system uses LiFePO4 cells, which are considered particularly safe. In addition, an intelligent BMS, a circuit breaker, a fuse and an integrated aerosol fire extinguishing system provide protection. The storage system is certified according to UN38.3, CB, CE-EMC and IEC 62619.

Does the system work during a power cut?
According to the manufacturer, the inverter supports off-grid operation (island mode). Whether your appliances continue to be supplied during a power cut depends on the installation. Ask your electrician for advice on this.

How do I monitor the system?
Via the Deye app, you can see generation, consumption, grid import and feed-in in real time and define charging and discharging strategies. On the storage system itself, a touch display shows the status. An internet connection is required for remote monitoring.
