Exide Marathon L12V24 - 12 V AGM lead-acid battery with 24 Ah
Description
Product information
The Exide Marathon L12V24 is a compact, sealed VRLA-AGM block battery that supplies reliable energy for medium bridging times with 12 V and 23.5 Ah (C10) or 24.0 Ah (C20). Thanks to its long-life design (≥12 years, EUROBAT) and high power density, it is extremely low-gassing and maintenance-free, as it does not need to be topped up with water. This makes it ideal for use in UPS systems, telecommunications, safety lighting as well as energy and railway technology. A mounting kit (MTZ) is included in the scope of delivery.
Highlights at a glance
- 12 V / 24 Ah (C20), 23.5 Ah at C10, 15.8 Ah at C1
- Maintenance-free (AGM/VRLA), internal gas recombination ~99 %
- Design life: ≥12 years (EUROBAT "Long Life")
- High high-current capability for short discharge times
- Compact & lightweight: 168 × 127 × 174 mm, approx. 9.5 kg
Reliable performance for critical UPS loads
The L12V24 was designed for applications where stable voltage and high currents are crucial. Its robust high-current design, emphasised by a short-circuit current of 880 A and an internal resistance of 14.3 mΩ, makes it ideal for UPS systems, hazard alarm technology and starting and buffering tasks. Example values at 20 °C are 14.9 A at 1.80 V/cell for 1 hour or 39 A at 1.95 V/cell for 10 minutes.
High energy density with minimal effort
The L12V24 combines high power density with fast recharge times thanks to AGM technology and an optimised grid alloy. Its low self-discharge reduces maintenance intervals and storage costs, and its maintenance-free design lowers operating costs over its entire service life.
AGM-VRLA for maximum operational safety
The electrolyte is bound in glass mat (AGM). The valve regulation allows internal gas recombination, which minimises gassing. Lead-calcium grid plates improve corrosion resistance. The product is not subject to transport restrictions (ready for operation according to IATA DGR A67) and is manufactured in Europe to ISO 9001. Variants with UL 94-V0 are available.

FAQs about the Exide Marathon L12V24 battery
What is the L12V24 particularly suitable for?
The L12V24 is designed for UPS systems, telecommunications equipment, safety/emergency lighting, as well as general buffer and backup applications with medium bridging times.
Do I need to top up with water or perform regular maintenance?
No, the Exide Marathon L12V24 is sealed and maintenance-free; topping up with water is not necessary.
What is the expected service life in standby operation?
The battery is designed for a design life of 12 years and longer in accordance with EUROBAT "Long Life", depending on the environment and operating profile.
Is the transport of the battery restricted?
Ready-to-use VRLA AGM blocks like the L12V24 are not subject to any special transport restrictions in accordance with IATA DGR A67, so shipping by road, rail, sea or air is possible.
Is there a flame-retardant version?
Yes, the L12V24 is optionally available with UL 94-V0 housing. This increases the material's flame resistance for applications with increased fire protection requirements.
Which connections are available and are accessories included?
