Product information

The Eastron SDM630-M is a modern and multifunctional digital energy meter for three-phase networks, designed for comprehensive monitoring and analysis of electrical parameters. Thanks to its integrated Modbus RTU interface, it can be seamlessly integrated into building automation, energy management or photovoltaic monitoring systems. As a direct-measuring meter up to 100 amps per phase, it offers precise data acquisition for a wide range of applications in commercial, industrial and demanding private households.

Highlights at a glance

  • Precise measurement: Reliably measures a wide range of electrical quantities (kWh, kvarh, kW, kvar, kVA, P, F, PF, Hz, dmd, V, A, THD).
  • Modbus RTU interface: Enables simple remote reading and integration into higher-level systems via RS485.
  • Multifunctional: Suitable for energy monitoring, cost centre billing, load management and PV system monitoring.
  • Direct measuring up to 100A: No external current transformers required for currents up to 100A per phase, simplifies installation.
  • Compact DIN rail format: Simple and space-saving installation in standard electrical distribution boards (4 modules wide).

Comprehensive energy monitoring for professional applications

The Eastron SDM630-M is the ideal instrument for detailed recording of energy consumption and generation. It enables the precise monitoring of total consumption, individual machines or circuits as well as the recording of energy generated by a photovoltaic system. Thanks to the measurement of active and reactive energy in both directions (import/export), it is perfectly suited for monitoring PV systems with self-consumption. Its data forms the basis for energy efficiency measures, internal cost allocations or the monitoring of load profiles.

Precise measurement and flexible integration

In addition to active energy (kWh), this energy meter also measures reactive energy (kvarh), active power (kW), reactive power (kvar), apparent power (kVA), current (A), voltage (V), frequency (Hz), power factor (PF) and total harmonic distortion (THD) for voltage and current. The integrated Modbus RTU interface via RS485 enables all these values to be queried by systems such as data loggers, PLC controllers or energy management software. Direct measurement up to 100A eliminates the need for complex installation and configuration of external current transformers in many standard applications.

Simple installation and operation

The SDM630-M is quick and easy to install on a standard DIN rail in electrical distribution boards. The large, illuminated LCD display enables the most important measured values to be read directly on site. The buttons on the front can be used to navigate intuitively through the various display menus in order to view all the recorded parameters or make basic settings.

FAQs about the Eastron SDM630-M energy meter

What is the difference between the SDM630-M and other SDM630 variants?

The "M" in the designation stands for the integrated Modbus RTU interface. There are also variants with pulse outputs (e.g. SDM630-V1/-V2), with M-Bus interface or as MID-calibrated versions for billing purposes (SDM630-Modbus-MID).

Do I need external current transformers for this meter?

No, this model is designed for Direct measurement of currents up to 100 amperes per phase. No external current transformers (CTs) are required as long as this current range is not exceeded. Special CT meters (e.g. SDM630MCT) are available for higher currents.

Is this meter suitable for official billing (e.g. with the energy supplier)?

No, this standard model is usually not MID-calibrated and must therefore not be used for billing to the nearest kilowatt hour. It is primarily intended for monitoring purposes and internal cost allocation. For billing purposes, you need a variant with MID approval (e.g. SDM630-Modbus-MID).

How is the data read out via Modbus?

To read out the data, you need a Modbus master (e.g. a data logger, a PLC, a Raspberry Pi or a PC with appropriate software and an RS485 interface). The master sends queries to the address of the meter in the RS485 network and reads the values from the defined Modbus registers. The register assignment can be found in the manual for the meter.

The Deye SUN-10K-SG01HP3-EU-DM2 is a high-performance, three-phase, high-voltage hybrid inverter that serves as the heart of modern photovoltaic systems in detached houses. With an AC output power of 10 kW enables highly efficient energy utilisation through the combination of solar power generation, intelligent battery charging and a reliable emergency power supply. This model of the SG01 series is specifically designed for operation with High-voltage battery storage systems optimised. The higher system voltage minimises conversion losses, which increases the overall efficiency of your system. Whether it’s optimising self-consumption, zero feed-in or off-grid operation – this inverter offers the right solution for every scenario.Highlights at a glanceHigh-voltage battery support: Compatible with storage systems in the range of 160 V to 700 V, ensuring maximum efficiency during charging and discharging.100% capable of handling unbalanced loads: Each of the three phases can be loaded independently with up to 100% of the rated power – ideal for uneven consumption patterns in the household.2 MPPT trackers: Enables a flexible configuration of two module strings to achieve optimum yields even with varying roof pitches or partial shading.UPS function (backup): Guarantees an uninterrupted power supply in the event of a mains failure with an extremely fast switchover time of less than 10 ms.Smart Load & AC Coupling: Intelligent output for controllable loads (e.g. heat pump) and the option to integrate existing PV inverters into the system.Colour touchscreen display: Simple configuration and visualisation of all performance data directly on the unit via a user-friendly interface.Parallel connection: Supports parallel operation of up to 10 units to enable the system capacity to be scaled to meet future demand.Areas of applicationThe SUN-10K is the all-rounder for the modern home:Detached houses with storagePerfectly suited to high-voltage batteries such as the Deye BOS-A series or Pylontech Force H2, to maximise self-sufficiency.Emergency power backupReliably protects important household appliances such as heating pumps, fridges and lighting from power cuts.Sector couplingIntelligent control of wallboxes or hot-water heating elements via the Smart-Load contact when there is a solar surplus.Installation & Safety InstructionsBattery compatibilityEnsure that only certified high-voltage storage units are connected. Communication takes place via the BMS port (CAN/RS485).Heat dissipationInstall the unit in a cool, well-ventilated location. Although IP65-certified, installing it in a location protected from direct sunlight will extend the service life of the components.Protective devicesThe system features integrated DC isolators and a Type II DC surge protector to safeguard the installation against lightning damage and faults. FAQs on the Deye SUN-10K-SG01HP3Can I run this inverter on 48V batteries? No.This model is a high-voltage hybrid (HP3). For 48V low-voltage storage systems, you will need the LP3 series from Deye. Operating the system with the incorrect battery voltage may cause damage. It is essential to check the battery’s compatibility against the compatibility list beforehand.Do I need a separate smart meter for zero-feed-in?Generally speaking, no.Deye With these hybrid models, the appropriate 3-phase Smart is usually not supplied directly, so that the inverter can better measure household consumption at the grid connection point. However, the inverter can measure household consumption itself via the CT terminals and supply the required energy. Is the Wi-Fi module included in the scope of delivery?Yes.A Wi-Fi dongle for integration with the Solarman app or the Deye cloud portal is included as standard to enable you to monitor the system from anywhere in the world. Can the inverter control a heat pump?Yes.Via the programmable Smart-Load output, a signal can be sent to the heat pump (SG-Ready) to store thermal energy when there is sufficient solar yield or the battery is fully charged.
