Can I really limit grid consumption to 0 W?
In “Zero-Export-to-CT” mode, the inverter reduces the feed-in to almost zero. However, the current firmware allows for a technical residual consumption of approx. 20 W. Users report that grid consumption of 0 W can actually be achieved via Modbus register adjustments or external energy management systems such as ioBroker. For standard applications such as full feed-in or net metering, the factory setting is usually entirely sufficient.
The manufacturer should be contacted regarding configuration. It is also necessary to discuss this with the grid operator.
Are the charging/discharging currents sufficient for large high-voltage batteries?
Yes. According to the datasheet, the inverter allows a charging or discharging current of 50 A in each direction, which enables a power output of up to 20 kW at a battery voltage of 400 V. The official Approved Battery List lists systems such as BYD HVS/HVM, Pylontech Force H and Dyness Tower as fully compatible. This also allows large battery banks to be operated quickly and in BMS synchronisation.
How many kWp can I connect without the inverter clipping?
For the 15 kW model, up to 19.5 kW of PV input power is permitted. A typical 18 kWp PV system yields a good DC/AC ratio, which falls within the recommended oversizing range of 0.8. Slight clipping may occur on a few summer days, but this has little impact on the overall yield and offers valuable scope for future expansion.
Can I install the inverter outdoors?
Yes. The device is protected against dust and water jets to IP65, operates reliably at temperatures from –40 °C to +60 °C and tolerates 100 % humidity. For outdoor installation, the manufacturer recommends a sheltered, well-ventilated location to ensure unrestricted air cooling (≤ 55 dB(A)) and to prevent the fans from becoming blocked.
Can the inverter be controlled entirely via the app or remotely?
Yes. All relevant functions can be controlled remotely via the Deye Cloud or the local SUN-APP: parameter changes, firmware updates and emergency shutdowns are possible without any problems. The app guide takes you step by step through the Wi-Fi setup, including connection via the internal hotspot network. In addition, RS485, CAN, LAN and 4G sticks are available for connecting external EMS solutions.
